What did you do in the garden today?

I can't do much wedding in my garden with triple digit temps this week. The weeds are out of control. I'm ready to dig up half and plant the fall crops.
Anyone have a favorite bush bean?
Jade bush green bean has performed well for us. The feed and supply store always recommends them and only plants those in their home garden. We’ve planted these for 3 years and they do well.

Good morning gardeners. Day 3 of our heatwave. The garden is doing fine. The beans and acorn squash really get severely droppy when the sun gets a little high. I’ve been spot watering them. We are supposed to get rain later today so hopefully we’ll get enough rain so I won’t need to water tomorrow. There were pollinators back at my tomatillo plants this morning and I didn’t see any more bug larvae. The tomato plants are loaded with blossoms and tomatoes. The okra are developing flowers as well as the pepper plants. It looks like I have at least one maybe two eggplants developing. The eggplants, okra and peppers really like these high temperatures and have grown bigger this past week. I couldn’t stand the suspense so I went looking for new potatoes. I just got a few but it was enough to see how far along the potatoes are. Have a great day.

I gifted a neighbor coleus cuttings that I didn't dream would root so I had like 10 of em! These are the orange rust colored ones. We have em in 2 large containers out front and they are thriving!
Then I've got one out back that similar to the witch one (can't remember the name) and another one that had more greens on it that I did from seed!!
I luv em!!!
A trailing would be awesome for hanging planters!!!
I looked online and there are seeds ( out of stock now ) for about 15 colors of trailing . I never knew there were so many trailing ones . I once had a greenhouse tell me there was no such thing - you have to pinch them to make them bush out . I knew they existed .

Hot and humid already. I went out and gave the squash and beans a drink. Watered the container with the cucumber seeds in it then watered the dahlias, zinnias, basil and chrysanthemums. The tiny yellow squash hasn’t grown anymore so I picked it before it got icky. I don’t think it was pollinated. I’ll add that to the fried rice I’m making for dinner. I found a lonely steak tip in the freezer so that and a quick fried rice will make a nice dinner with minimal cooking. I just turned on the AC.

It's been a long 3.5 hr morning so far but I've had a lot of work to do. I watered the garden... Noticed that my eggplant FINALLY has one lone bloom on it but the whole plant is barely 18" tall. I don't know why they are so stunted. I started them indoors in February. They were doing well but just stopped growing between March and June completely.

Anyway, while I was watering the garden, I noticed the two young Live oaks I planted in the pasture last year were starting to die. There are a bunch of orange, dead leaves intersparsed with green ones. So after finishing the garden, I grabbed the 4-wheeler and took 5-gallon buckets of water to all my trees that are less than 3 years old. That took a while...

I'm also still caring for the injured mare who is on stall rest for a month. It adds a considerable amount of time to my morning chores too.

I need to get an earlier start. Who knew that 6:30 wasn't early enough.... 🙄
