What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning gardeners. I was up at 0230 and there were just a few high clouds. We ran an errand after the dogs played at the park and could literally see the downpour headed for our house as we drove away. It didn’t last long but it rained, in my yard! I have decided that since the heat has been so unbearable and I haven’t been able to accomplish a lot that I’m pretty much done this year. Between now and next Spring I’m going to clean out beds, have the soil tested, and amend the shade garden. I do have a spot I’m prepping for garlic this fall, but other than that I’m just going to maintain and prep better for next year. That includes setting up sunken beds with shade in the veg garden. I’m also going to try growing some ginger indoors also. My house smells amazing right now, I’m roasting ginger, garlic and shallots to make curry paste.

We got some much needed rain last night. Temps to only be in the 80s week, which is a nice break from the 90s and 100s.

Lots of weeding and harvesting to do this week, for some reason I just don't have the gumption. I need to can green beans too.

Potatoes have fallen but are still green, same with the onions but we are moving closer to harvest. Lots of squash on the vines, tomatoes and peppers.

Broody still in the nest, tomorrow is day 15, getting there.

Making BLTs for dinner with stuff from the garden.

Thinking about making some Buffalo fried pickles with my latest batch of cukes.
I wish I had maters so I could make a BLT. I just looove BLTs. That sounds like a great idea for the cukes, I may have to steal it & adapt it to low carb somehow. Do you follow any type of recipe?

@Acre4Me that is such a bummer & surprises me too. Last year my suyos held out really well with the beetles/wilt which is why I planted them again this year. Well that & who doesn't love a foot & a half long cuke, lol.

It is just unbearable out there, can't wait for this heat wave to be over. The chickens have dug so deep I almost couldn't even find them! But I have a batch of salted caramel ice cream in the ice cream maker. :drool

Dug up some onions & picked beans for dinner. That's all I have in me to do outside.

Watered everything at 6 AM this morning. Fed up with one of the hoses that's useless so I bought another one after church today.
