What did you do in the garden today?

This is how you chop hot peppers if you wear contact lenses:

Yes, I am double-gloved, 2 on each hand. Burning eyes are not fun…but I love hot peppers!
Not just if you wear contacts. Also if you have fingers and eyes...or just a face. I still remember the first time I cut up a bunch of my habaneros for salsa and I told myself, "Gloves? I don't need no steenking gloves." Then an hour later I got something in my eye and reflexively sent a finger in there after the offending particle. Lesson learned.

Planted my baby cottonwood today. Grew it from a cutting and planted it in our tortoise area. There's a chicken run behind it so hoping the rinse water from the chickens bowls will help keep it happy.🤞 I'll probably put a tortoise wallow area at the base too once it's bigger. I'll also remove the bricks then but need them for now to keep the tortoise off of it. If it grows well, I'll do some more cuttings. Hopeful!

This is the tortoise I need to keep off the tree til it's grown big enough for him to leave alone.

My daughter got me a pair of Crocs to wear out front when I’m working to replace the flip flops her man sized teenager literally busted out of taking out the trash. Anyway, she got these things to put on them :gig (Not my photo)
I WANT THOSE!!!!! ahem...nice.
Good morning gardeners. Hubs is cutting up the tree. I took some cuttings from the olive tree and the rosemary bush to start in water.
I started all my new and generally improved rosemary from the rosemary I got for cooking at the grocery store.
The tree is pretty much done! The neighbor and his kid came over and they took care of it in short order! Going to make them some cookies later
So sorry you lost that tree. Cookies are a great idea though. Especially for male helpers. :)
15 pound of marzanos pureed and simmering.
This week I'll start pinching off new flowers on any of the vines. Nothing that forms there will have full time to ripen before the chill of fall - so the plant can keep its energy for the fruit on hand.
Yeah, even though we had a late, cold spring, folks here are saying we'll have an early fall this year. I'll start cutting back the newer growth on the tomatoes.
Today’s harvest:
Beautiful harvest, very artfully arranged too.
I would love some without holes! My feet get so dirty sometimes. :gig
I want the ones with holes, my feet get too sweaty. Well that and now I want those cute decorations.

I trimmed up the grass and weeds around the strawberry and asparagus the other day. And now, you can see the asparagus!

The strawberries are vining and producing daughters like crazy, and I should really put the time into controlling them...
Also, after never having heard of corn smut before it was posted on here the other day, look what I found:

I harvested some blue corn and ate it. I'm going to allow the rest of the corn to dry.
