What did you do in the garden today?

Canned some spicy dilly beans today. 24 half-pint jars. Right now the tomatillo salsa is in the water bath (8 pint jars). I might get around to another recipe, but I have kid things to attend to in a little bit.

Garden looks good. Hard to keep up with some things, like the cherry tomatoes. Need to check the green beans again - this fall batch has been picked 3x already!

Just using compost but maybe? I did add compost to all the veggies/fruits in the spring but not the flowers.

Yep, I'm going with too high in nitrogen in your compost. I had the same problem in my hoop house. Fresh compost soil, alpaca manure, AND miracle grow. As soon as I stopped the MG, we were good.

Just snapped my thumb in a finicky new mousetrap. Won't lie, it stung.
Normally don't have my fingers anywhere near the working side of the traps, but inhaled a lung of dust and sneezed.

Good afternoon gardeners All I did was open a box with 2 new Mexican birds of paradise in it today. They’re tiny little things, I think it’s still too warm for full sun so will pot and leave in the shade garden until fall. Our rain chances are dwindling and it’s supposed to warm up a bit this week

I watered tomatoes, weeded the asparagus and picked a lot of cucumbers and peppers. It was a fairly easy day!

Chatted with my neighbor and got some garden ideas for next year. I have an area that is thick with grass. It's "new" ground, as it's from moving the fence. I'm going to dig up a bunch of the sod, dig down as far as I can manage, and bury some fallen limbs from trees. Then the sod can go roots up on top of the logs, throw in some leaves if I can find them, and bury it all.

I need to dig a bunch of potatoes too.
