What did you do in the garden today?

From what I hear about it, it really ups the nutritional and medicinal if you can say that too, . quality of it as well.

The different types of garlic Do have a HUGE impact on the flavor of the end product. That elephant garlic tends to give kind of horrible flavors, I have some higher end garlic that I grew over the season and some of them fermented, just wow, I am contemplating doing an entire tote of just them next season just to have a bunch to ferment now.

aaorn
I’ve never tried it with elephant garlic, just regular grocery store stuff. I have seed garlic coming from Territorial in fall that I’m going to ferment though.’

Switched to my backup computer as this one is failing, well the keyboard is failing. They stopped doing up dates on it in June too. The keyboard is the annoying part though. Half the time the space bar doesn't work when you hit it, others you hit one key and it triggers another key. It really slows you down.
My backup is mostly for art as it is a touch screen with a pen and I LOATHE it. This morning I figured out why. Not only is the keyboard too small, so you hit more than you want to at full speed, but the screen is not anti-reflective. So you are looking through a full reflection of yourself and everything behind you to see your work. I am actually making myself motion sick using it.
OK, so off to shop this week for a replacement. Annoying as heck.
You can get a keyboard and a screen thing to resolve those issues.

Hubs recently bought a laptop but I haven’t used it yet

Good morning all. I’m busy with indoor cleaning so no gardening today. Everything is watered or can wait until the morning but the house looks like a bomb went off; I started getting stuff done yesterday but made more messes elsewhere in the process. Might need to make a quick grocery run too.

Nope. It's a laptop.
The screen covers never work right, and the keyboard is integrated.
All of that combined with the lack of updates makes it a pain in the butt.
It's ok. I've managed 8 years out of this one at about 14 hours a day, work and personal use.
Just argh.
But thank you for the suggestions.

Back from my trip to see my parents.

A lot has changed in the garden since I was away! My girlfriend tried wrangling our tomato’s, to beaten up their grow area. It looks better but is still a jungle!

Tobacco is kicking out flowers that I’ll top today. Squash are trying to beat sept/October frosts. I wish we could plant the first of may…. Tomato’s are producing but not a lot ripe yet. Greens, carrots, beets, broccoli are doing well.

Rethinking if three sisters planting really work for our space. The beans were quickly overwhelmed by everything, so maybe they need to be planted earlier? Squash is climbing the back fence and the back pine tree. Seems like planting under a pine is OK, I was concerned about that before we started.

All the best.

I'm Back, in case Y'all missed me. Was in Belize for a week With Mrs. Lobo, Youngest daughter and her family. Soakin up the beach, clear water (not like our muddy beaches ) Spendin time with family, fishin, swimmin, snorkeling, watchin the thongs on the beaches, Good food and good beer. Just havin a well deserved vacation.
Got back Thursday evening. Seems like we had been gettin rain every day that we were gone. Had 3.5" in the rain gauge and added another 1/2" that night (hallelujah). Garden was likin it cause it had not had anything but well water since mid March. Everything had perked back up and growin better. Even the watermelon that had been struggling despite being watered every day. When we left there were 2 grape sized melons on the vine. Now they are softball size. Got a storm comin up from the Yucatan area ( clouded up and poured in Belize the day we left) and by the end of this week we're slated for more rain and it's not expected to reach hurricane strength. Bring on the rain. Maybe this will extend our growin season a little.
Alfalfa I planted in the previous onion bed just a few days before we left, loved the rain and is comin on good. Should make for a good corn bed next spring.
Blackberries that I had moved to their own bed past winter had been struggling also on well water. They too have perked up due to the rain. They may make it now.
Only downside to all this is, we came back to what appeared to be a dead freezer. Light s off and everything completely defrosted. Lost some Boston butts that were bought on sale, several bags of flounder caught over this summer and about 75 bags of various veggies saved for the coming winter. All got buried in the garden for worm food.
And to clarify "appeared to be a dead freezer". We had moved it out to the garage doors to do the cleanout and While cleaning it out I decided to plug it in to an extension cord. Darned thing started runnin! Tested the plug where it was stationed and it worked also. Can't explain why it was not runnin when we got home but it got to freezing temp. and stayed there for the past 2 days. It is now on standby until we have more stuff to stuff in it. Not an electrician nor appliance repairman so I can't explain what happened.

Well, That's all I have to say about that!
See Ya later!

It has been humid all week . Even my jeans get damp . Yes sweat of the brow but it did not mention sweat running down your butt . :gig
One thing I noticed, that originally I thought was just because I was a fat ass, but after losing a ton of weight, realized, I just sweat..... it doesn't have to be obscenely hot or humid out either. The forehead is real bad, One thing I found that works wonders and also helps you feel a lot cooler too is a simple head band. it absorbs sweat, keeps your head cool, keeps your face from being sticky keeps you from sweating on everything you are workin in / on (very annoying) and helps actually keep you cooler, as sweating / evaporation is a key element in your body's cooling mechanism.

You can buy one, or as I have done, take a towel, fold it down so it's thin and long and then wrap it around your forehead and loosely hold it with a granny knot. Spin the know around to the back of your head so the ends are not hanging in your face and well... give it a try you might find its a quick easy way to keep dryer and feel a lot better.

Aaron

Edit: a simple welders hat? or what you call it works too, its like a beanie cap you stretch over your head tight around your forehead to hold your hair up / absorb sweat. Harbor freight should have them for a few bucks.
