What did you do in the garden today?

I have heard more than one person say this, that after doing keto for a while, the body does NOT like it when they are back on carbs. Not the transition but even if they stay on carbs, they feel crappy now. Like the body is less tolerant of carbs now or something.

I will be honest, I try to eat healthy, but I don't really eat right all the time. Not talking just because im eating junk food, but I just need to better period on my food intake, getting all the food groups and a balanced diet, and remembering that NO, taking a vitamin pill is NOT going to make up for you NOT eating right !!!

I have felt that at times too, and I don't want to say this and have anyone think it is legit, because I honestly do NOT know or have done any studies on it but it seems like once you have done the keto thing for a while, something changes in you permanently... that the body does not like carbs much anymore, although we absolutely DO need them really. Its like you lost your tolerance to them.

I will say THIS though, all those keto zealots, .. you will NOT EVER convince me that keto is perfectly healthy for you to live on all the time. IM sorry but starving your body to force it into some sort of protection mode is NOT an overall healthy thing !!! You can eat all the eggs and meat you want. Oh so I can just ignore that cholesterol number now? Using it to get to a goal is one thing, living on it constantly.. you can't sell me on that.

I know people who do keto all the time because of long term health issues like diabetes. Personally I would never do keto all the time unless I had no other choice. We would do 4 months on and then 4 months of eating healthy but upping the carbs to 100 - 120 g. When we are on keto, we keep our carbs under 50. I have done the 20 g or less but I feel that is a bit extreme. We don't eat a lot of junk food. Once in a great while, we will eat cookies, ice cream, or something like cheese dip & chips but most of our higher carbs come from fresh fruits or starchy vegetables.

I have issues with some carbs too. Fortunately, the problem is usually "just" gas. Except for gluten. That make my shins itch. (Weird, I know.) Want-to-scrub-my-shins-with-Brillo level of itching. Cortizone creams don't touch it.

Inulin (chicory root) is big gas causer for me. Lots of GF snack-type bars have inulin. I really like Costco's GF bar. If I eat one, I get a lot of gas. I made the mistake of eating two one time only.
Hmmm, maybe that's why I feel so itchy too sometimes? I figured it was grass, pollen, molds, or even sweat making me feel itchy...

And yes, I get very gassy from the carbs. It's a consequence of the bloatedness too. I don't suffer from any of these symptoms when I'm on keto. My whole GI track feels really great on keto. I know I keep saying that but it sucks when eating anything makes you feel sick and uncomfortable afterwards. When I'm on keto, I can eat and feel full but not bloated, gassy, nauseous, and uncomfortable.

You probably don't want my recipe, I don't eat sugar or flour so I use almond flour & monk fruit/erythritol. :) But if you do I'd be happy to share. I make one with brown sugar & choc chips, makes it taste like a choc chip cookie! & the other one I like is chocolate with a swirl of cream cheese.
Sueby I would like to try your recipe. Who knows I might ❤️it. 😁

So the cabbage worms have decimated my rutabaga this week. I didn't really want to pull them before the first frost, do you think I should? There isn't a bit of leaf left. Will they be ok? I had no idea how big they'd get so they outgrew my netting & the bugs got in & now I'm not sure what to do.

The one with brown sugar sub: https://alldayidreamaboutfood.com/keto-chocolate-zucchini-bread/

The chocolate one is a fave here. But, it's hard to make them if you don't have the ingredients - there are a lot of special things in them. As I said I don't eat sugar or flour, haven't in many years, so these ingreds are what I always have on hand (I don't use Swerve tho). :)
