What did you do in the garden today?

Supposed to get some wicked storms this afternoon. Maybe even a tornado or two. I did run down to the garden to do a little bit of cleanup from the freeze. It killed off just about everything. I'm hoping my rosemary comes back. All the leaves turned brown and fell off. So bummed! 🤞🙏🤞🙏

Doing some cleaning today. Taking down Xmas decorations. Mopping floors, etc.

Oh it's broken alright, foot is throbbing. I go into the surgeon tomorrow to see what they can do about it. Hopefully don't need surgerybut already had a few people tell me the way it's longwise down the bone and kind of going around it, ill probably end up with a rod / pin in it or some sort of fun.

Well so much for riding my new motorcycle for the next few months .... KMA 2022 I hope you rot.

That's a nasty looking break. It's a midfoot bone too and those are harder. But at least it's on the outside rather than smack in the middle. Hope it heals well for you.
Nope, not going to happen. It’s not worth fighting with Igor about it and we’ve already had the discussion. Our compromise was the more expensive machine that uses less water. Opening a window is not an option either. Igor works outside on blacktop with semi trucks running, even when it’s 115+ and that’s enough suffering in my opinion.

I don’t use the condensation to water any food plants, I wouldn’t ever use it for cooking.

It may seem counterintuitive, but hydroponics uses less water to grow stuff so I’m looking into this as a longer term option and learning about it more.
We do the high efficiency machines too. Had to get a front loader though because both me and hubbies mom's would fill buckets with water to add to our washer because they hate how little water they use. They live so far away and don't make it down often but it drove hubby nuts.

and to top it off I didn't feed the girls 'ENOUGH' food it seems. their food is in a 40 gallon roll around brute can with a snap on lid. the can has the food bag in it, i snap the lid down when not getting food.... 'almost' .. always. i didn't this morning, i basically grabbed a few handfulls out and threw it into an arc for them to eat since i was not in any feeling condition to walk to their damned feeder.

so I goto the doctors office only to find out the sorry SOB is closed for the 'holiday' today too. typical millennial...

so I come back home and go out into the back yard to put some food out for the bees, only to find the damned trash can making noise. I look in, one of the stupid witches went HEAD FIRST into the can, INTO the food bag, and got stuck in there. so now i have to fish a chicken out of a feed bag in a trash can. I was tempted to leave her in there and just close the lid but the humane side of me said, no, that's not nice. so i throw her ass out into the yard only to have her back 5 seconds later trying to squat dump me, begging for more food. what the hell is wrong with them? they got almost an acre to forage they are NOT starving !!! STOP TRYING TO MAKE ME LOOK BAD !!!

can I just take some pills, goto bed, and just wake up and have a redo on 2023's start???

those he machines plain suck, they don't put enough water in to wash the clothes properly. they come out smelling like ass because they didn't have enough water to rinse the parfoom da anus out of your skivvies properly !!

I find that using like a heavy item or deep clean or heavy duty setting tends to get more water, or a deep fill option, which actually helps very little. BUT the key thing is, they go by weight to determine what you got. so one little hack is put your clothes in, and then take an extra gallon of water and slowly pour it over the clothes in the machine, try to soak as much into the clothes as you can w/o it dribbling down into the very bottom where'd it be sucked out. what that does is add about 8 lbs to the weight so it wants to give it a lot more water then.

If your machine is one of those GE bravos?? is it, they are total pieces of garbage, so many recalls and angry pissed off people because of the failure rate on them and just a horrible design.. i hate to say this but if that is what you got, get another one before you blow an aneurism swinging a sledge hammer at the garbage heap.

I like the efficiency thing of it but NOT if it is NOT cleaning my clothes properly.

You are really having a rough go! :hugs I’ll give you this imaginary hug because if I tried to give you real one I’d probably step on your sore foot!

It's so mild here that I went into the garden and pulled a small bucket of weeds for the chickens. They're happily scratching and pecking. But not laying!
:barnie I have 4 that I know/am pretty sure are laying, but I'm getting 1 egg every other day. Did the Christmas blizzard of '22 mess up their egg laying that much? I had such high hopes when the one that started back up post molt laid an egg a day for 3 days straight. Sigh.

Sally, I have 2 pullets that were supposed to start laying eggs 2 weeks ago, and have not started yet. I have 3 other older girls, who just stopped laying 2 or so months ago. Now one is in a horrible molt now, and the other two have come out of molts but still, come on ladies, stop with the free ride, daddy needs to eat too here !!

I bought eggs (gasp!) for holiday baking, and have 8 left. All the water glassed eggs in the basement are gone. REALLY don't want to buy eggs!

Dang, I just want spring to hurry up.

@TJAnonymous good luck with the storms, hope it isn’t too bad.

@ascholten I hope the day gets better. 🙁

I don’t have anything to do in a January garden in NY, so Ive been giving my flock playground time. Blocked off the garlic & what little kale is still alive. So far I’ve seen them get at least 5 slugs and dig up a bunch of other bugs. They are hopefully finding all the squash vine borer larvae, asparagus beetles, cutworms, and cabbage moth caterpillars that are hoping to overwinter in my soil. I hope they find all of them. I supervise them to hopefully prevent hawk attacks. Lots of crows cackling so hopefully keeping hawks away. They have a blast, and I just stand around. Much easier than the bending, digging & planting that will come in the spring. I may get bird netting to cover the space so I can let them out all day when I’m home.
