What did you do in the garden today?

I have those flimsy trays, but I never use them. The clear dome cover that it came with got blown away and disappeared. However, I still use the seed cell tray that it came with, I cut it in equal part.
I have used these for 11 years, great for setting my start pots in

I'm thinking of sending an aerogarden to my Dad in an assisted living apartment. He used to garden big time so this might be good for him. Before this I looked at aerogarden and said I don't need that since I have a large greenhouse and all the garden space I could want including light shelves for starts. But I think he will love it.
I think thats a great idea! I wasn’t going to use it this year, the price of electricity has doubled this past year here, but after having surgery that will not allow me to have an outdoor garden this summer I’m super happy to have it.

I’ve only ever started herbs to plant outside in it, I’m questioning how well a tomato plant would actually produce in just the aerogarden though. I think herbs & lettuces would be good, but anything bigger I wonder. Maybe @igorsMistress has some ideas?

Do you sprout them all together in a pot or are they in separate individual cells?
I used a clear egg carton and put 2-3 seeds in each cup in a seed starter mix. Hoping I can just scoop it out with a spoon to transplant.

I didn’t have any luck with tomatoes in mine and I tried a smaller, patio variety. Herbs and lettuce do quite well though. I do suggest a larger model, the small three hole version isn’t really big enough for anything but lettuce where roots are concerned.

Tomatoes grow long roots, up a foot into soil so I feel the Aerogarden just isn’t big enough for them. I’m trying a different option and using buckets under the grow light with an air pump for bigger stuff like tomatoes.
