What did you do in the garden today?

Hello, I’m back, because my Longan is suffering, and I bet some of you know your way around trees better than I do.

I have a hard time transplanting lettuce, over half of them usually die. I think I have to monitor how much sun they get when I set them out. I do better with 2 seeds per rock wool cube, and snip the weaker one.

I would wait for them to get bigger and harden before transplanting.
I direct sow lettuce here. It grow fast in the ground outside. I find that thinning then out is almost always needed, no matter how hard we try to plant individual seeds those tiny seeds will stick together or a few accidentally fall out your hand. Same with carrots. Pelleted seeds are a nice option, but more expensive and limited in variety.

Yesterday, early in the morning while it was still dark my rooster started crowing near my bed room window. I have a crowing collar on him that lowers the crowing volume, but it gets annoying if the crowing is continuous. I leave my chicken coop open, so they can go in and out as they please..

Anyway, he just started crowing and I knew he was going to keep at it, so I opened up my window and whispered to be quiet and gave him a shhhhh and he actually stopped crowing for an hour.

I didn't think much about it, but it happened again this morning, I gave him a shush and he stop crowing? I thought the first time was a fluke, but the second got me thinking he understood the meaning of my whisper and shush.

My chicken is amazing......:love

It looks like a blight of some type. I know you are in Europe so I'm not sure about what resources are available but typically you can take some leaves to a university and they can test them for you. I'd also take a soil sample (at least 4 cups minimum). If you can't do that, try a copper fungicide on it.

I thought some of my tomato seeds were duds, so I planted more. Now I have too many of them........Atomic grape, Atomic Fusion, Tim's Taste of Paradise, Brandy Wise, Heart shaped cherry, Princess Yum Yum, German Green, Orange Jazz, Pink Berkeley Tie Die, Sun Gold, Sun Sugar, Black Cherry, Indigo Apple, Black Beauty, Black Truffle, Pine Apple, Rutgers, Burpee Giant, Ferry Moss brand beef steak and a few others.

I am happy that my home made Genovese basil seeds sprouted. I think they will be ready to use with my tomatoes when they ripen.

I covered half of my leggy cucumber stem with potting mix. I hope they make it. This Japanese slicing cucumber variety should be resistant to powdery mildew and blight. That is what usually attacks my cucumbers, so I am hopeful.
