What did you do in the garden today?

Put some of my chicken compost on a bed that I intend to plant sweet corn in about two weeks.

Pic? I have three packages of those things and a ton of tomato sprouts. Was thinking of trying this myself but not sure how to attach to the bucket.

I put a bamboo stick in four corners and wrapped a bird netting around it and secured the netting with wooden close pins and zip ties. Then I needed to make a support for my tomato plants, so I zip tied a bamboo stick across two corners and zip tied the middle. I will hang some string down for the plants. Its kind of flimsy, but .eventually if my plants gets tall enough, I have wire running across up high for a trellis netting roof. However, its highly likely my plants will get stunted from the Tomato Yellow Leaf Virus before I can bring my idea into reality. If you blow up the bottom picture, you can see the orange wires up high.

Too tired to catch up... there's still 5 pages I'm behind on.

To share though, I picked up some boards to turn or raised rows where we typically plant tomatoes and cucumbers into short raised beds. Treated1x8s for the walls and treated 2x3s to make stakes. Had a family party for grandmother's birthday so I didn't have time to frame the beds, but I'll get to it eventually. At least the lumber is in the garage now.

Good morning gardeners. Trying to stay optimistic about this impending Nor'easter. Now they're saying 12 or more inches of heavy wet snow. Ugh! The snowblower doesn't like juicy wet snow. The upside is that it will be melting soon with temperatures hitting 50F on Friday. I guess this is Mother Nature's last gift of free nitrogen for the garden soil. I'm really hoping all you get is rain@Sueby. Today I'm hoping to start the additional garden herb seeds I picked up on Friday. We'll see how the day goes. Not much else to do in the garden except watch the snow melt.

Thanks @Wee Farmer Sarah. They are saying 2-6 for now. This storm seems hard to forecast for us because of the temps & the rain/snow mix. Of course hoping for all rain! I hope you don’t get it too bad, but it sounds like that might be a waste of a wish at this point. It’ll be the worst kind of snow too, heavy & wet. Hopefully this is the last of it for all of us!

St. Patrick's Day parade today! In the cold and snow though... the weather is always a crapshoot for this parade. Hoping the kids still enjoy it.
