If you are planting tomatoes, don't forget to plant basil and Italian oregano. I stole 2 leaves from 5 baby Genovese basil plants and tried them with my sliced tomato, and olive oil breakfast salad. I concluded that it could not beat the stand alone flavor of the oregano leaves, but they pair well together.
Next time, I will line my plate with lettuce and spread my tomato, chopped basil, oregano and shredded mozzarella cheese on top before drenching it with olive oil.
I sprinkle salt on my sliced tomatoes right before I eat them, so they don't get watered down and lose its texture.
