Darn! I have tons of milkweed. Even a local one a friend gave me a huge packet of to scatter. I'm only planting it in the front where there are no animals.Beesbalm hates me. Same with lavender. I've tried numerous times to grow it including buying healthy starts. It always goes toes up and dies but every year I buy it to try again....I'm also planting Salvia and would love milkweed for the butterflies but it's highly toxic to my horses so unfortunately I don't dare grow it here.
I've started a flat (Group 1 of 3)of some cool weather flowers indoors - marshmallow, lavender (a different variety than the English), Penstemon, Clarkia, Violas, and Stocks.
Group 2 of 3 for flower starts wont be for a couple of weeks but will include the yarrow seeds I bought. I will likely do what you mentioned and start some in flats and some outside direct sowed.
Lavender I haven't dared. I read the growing process and said no thank you. I already am growing too much and having to pay attention to Lavender and cold stratifying the seeds.... nah it's OK. I'll buy a mature plant maybe if I have room which at this rate I won't

My front yard is going to be a bee/pollinators garden so wild and filled with amazing flowers. My bulbs are coming up now. Only the dwarf irises have bloomed. Surprised no crocuses yet.
