What did you do in the garden today?

Beesbalm hates me. Same with lavender. I've tried numerous times to grow it including buying healthy starts. It always goes toes up and dies but every year I buy it to try again.... 😂 I'm also planting Salvia and would love milkweed for the butterflies but it's highly toxic to my horses so unfortunately I don't dare grow it here.

I've started a flat (Group 1 of 3)of some cool weather flowers indoors - marshmallow, lavender (a different variety than the English), Penstemon, Clarkia, Violas, and Stocks.

Group 2 of 3 for flower starts wont be for a couple of weeks but will include the yarrow seeds I bought. I will likely do what you mentioned and start some in flats and some outside direct sowed.
Darn! I have tons of milkweed. Even a local one a friend gave me a huge packet of to scatter. I'm only planting it in the front where there are no animals.

Lavender I haven't dared. I read the growing process and said no thank you. I already am growing too much and having to pay attention to Lavender and cold stratifying the seeds.... nah it's OK. I'll buy a mature plant maybe if I have room which at this rate I won't 🤣

My front yard is going to be a bee/pollinators garden so wild and filled with amazing flowers. My bulbs are coming up now. Only the dwarf irises have bloomed. Surprised no crocuses yet.

potted up some tomatoes, broccoli, and tomatillos I planted way too early. I mixed them and have no idea which variants they are now. We'll find out when they put out fruit!

I saw promix today. It felt like abag of peat moss. I didnt rip it open though. How is that stuff?
I'm on my 3rd year using it. I really like using it. Last year I was picking some larger bits out of it, but not many to make it annoying. It's cheaper than making your own.
I still feed half strength every week using it, like normal.

We just up-potted 103 starts! It was a family affair with DW, DD and DS all pitching in to help. Hoping tgese root well into the larger pots over the next 2 weeks before we go on vacation. The plants will have to survive without being wasted as frequently so hoping the roots spread to access water throughout the pots. My sister will stop by to water once or twice at least while we are gone, but increased root structure and soil to hold more moisture will help I think. Fingers crossed.

ETA: We are out of space now in the grow tent setup. I'm eager to get plants into the greenhouse so we can start more. Hopefully after Easter the greenhouse night time temps will be warm enough to keep peppers and tomatoes out there. Then I'll be able to start the cucumbers and melons inside.

What fertilizer do you use? I have some Miracle Grow vegetable fertilizer. I used that last year on the starts that made it through the mold crisis we had. Seemed to work alright. I don't use chemical fertilizer much so always afraid to burn the plants with it.
