What did you do in the garden today?

I have the outer edge of my garden as a walkway. On the west side, it's about 4 feet, so it's wide enough for a cart. The east side is narrower. I started digging out the grass that has invaded on the west side. Got about 30 feet done along the fence.

In the past, I've gone down the fence on my hands and knees, digging out the grass by the roots. I don't have the time or back to do that, so I'm just digging up clumps and dumping them roots up.

I'm thinking of putting flowers down the east side -- I don't walk there anyway -- and am looking for stuff for the bees. I have a lot of borage seeds saved from a couple years ago, so I might plant a patch of that.

When I'm out and about tomorrow, I'm going to stop at a couple of places to see what they have in the way of started pots of flowers. I'd really like to get hyssop and bee balm going. I planted some seeds in the green house, but what's growing in those pots is still tiny.

This papaya tree grew by itself, I did not plant it. I think its from a Maradol papaya tree I grew last year. I got the seeds from eBay a few years ago. If this one taste sweet I will save some seeds to replace the old ones.

I planted several bare root wintergreen…hope they sprout. Also ordered fiddle head ferns. Planted them on the north side of the house - seemed like a good spot.

Spouse built a bigger raspberry raised bed-we replaced two 4x4 beds with a 12x4 bed. Built one more raspberry bed for between the fruit trees.
Ooooooh! I should dig up some wintergreen from the woods to plant in my garden!!

Mr muddy found poke salad growing all over our property…..im supposed to pick some for him to cook soon
Just remember to boil 2x, toss each water, then after 3rd boil can eat it.

FIL tries new things, loves plants…moved to south, heard about pokeweed. Decided to cook and eat. Well, no one mentioned the boil 3x (toss water) and everyone who ate it had pretty bad tummy ache. So, toss that boil water first 2x.

Can I plant zucchini and summer squash under my cattle panel bean trellis arch? The arches run north to south - so there should be sunshine in the early and late parts of the day

The seeds are cheap, so every opportunity is a good one. I trellis my summer squash. I wish it was a little easier to tie up, but I love that I no longer have to deal with squash bugs.

I've decided that the Swiss Chard hates me. This is my first time growing it. I seeded it somewhere between 3/4 and 3/18 and, although it sprouted, it's hardly grown. I have one sprout that might be around 2 inches tall. The rest look sickly, tiny, and thin. Wondering if I should try again in a different container.... 🤔

Don't give up. It's the green that keeps on giving! They do like nitrogen, but it has also been a relatively cool spring so far.

I see you have it in a container. Some potting soils are awful. I've had terrible results with Sta-Green. Nothing wants to grow in it.
