What did you do in the garden today?

Were they not pollinated?
Yes, they were. It appears to be blossom end rot, which is environmentally caused. It's been dry but very rainy this week, that's possibly what caused it.

There are more squash coming, I can see lots of female blossoms on the plants.

I need to turn the compost. I haven't done anything with it yet this season. It's been a bit busy around here.

And dry. After I turn it, I'll be adding 5-10 gallon of water to really soak it down.

Yesterday was taken up with the coop addition build, so I haven't been out to the garden in a couple days. I need to weed the sweet potato bed in preparation for planting the slips.

My compost has been neglected this year too. I can't get on the tractor to turn it so it's only been turned once so far. & it's piling up!

We got a little rain last night, haven't checked the rain gauge but probably less than .25 but I'll take it.

DH brought some 'repels all' spray to stop the stupid bunny from eating my plants. His mom has lived peacefully with us for years just eating the clover & not the plants but this guy didn't get the memo. He's gonna get some lead if he doesn't quit it.

Good morning gardeners. We got what seemed like a lot of rain last night but the wind blew the rain gauge over so not sure what we actually got. The weather app on my phone says we got .25 inch. I know it was at least that much. The mowing is all done except for the slope. I won't even try that until everything dries out. Weed whacking is the big chore today. I really need to put cardboard done in the big garden. With all the rain we've been getting these past few weeks the weeds and grass between the beds are out of control. I did a little weeding in the leek garden on my garden walk. I'm just thrilled at how well they are growing. The second planting of kale is coming up already. The additional insect netting I ordered arrived yesterday afternoon. I need to put some over the lima bean plants and the blueberry bush that has berries on it. I'm still waiting for my grape vines to wake up. Hopefully soon. I dragged 3 bags of thoroughly soaked mulched to the top of my backyard wall so I can use my dolly to cart them the rest of the way to the path. Rain in the forecast for Saturday and part of Sunday then dry for a week. I'm ready for a little break in the rain.

The neighbor's barn cat is getting a little too comfortable in my yard.

Before I saw her, I noticed all my chickens gathered around by the fence, and I wondered what they were doing. Then I saw the cat. I tried to gently nudge her off the table. She hissed at me. Uh, NO, not your yard, not my cat, so I picked up the hose and quickly squirted her. She ran off, but, I'm sure she will be back.

New door in the background. We are letting it dry out since it's pressure treated and very wet when you first get the wood. But seems to work better to let it dry out in place for a couple of weeks. The gap on the side opposite of the hinges is already bigger, so it's drying out.

Next phase is another smaller door to the left, outside of the pic. The, just finishing up the last straight section of the fence.

Love your door...I'm jealous!
