What did you do in the garden today?

heavy rain here washed away many slope gardens. luckily I don't like neat garden and left "hills" made by tractor above my planting line. that prevented washing away everything. but my dogs destroyed a few of my tomatoes by digging for the eggs I buried. I made a huge mistake by breaking some of them to compost faster. dogs could smell them.
Them turd buckets. Last year my husband's dog ate 90% of my cherry tomatoes. I shared with her what I picked then she figured out how to get them for herself.

The frisbee reminds me that I want to put a shallow dish of water out for the bees. I think I'll put stones it this time, so they don't drown
Thank you! Most people (like me, before I read about bees) don't know that they need a source of water to drink. And, yes, the stones really help by giving them something to stand on.

I have rescued a honey bee that was in a bucket of water by giving it a stick to grab on to. I set it on the dirt and it walked around a bit to dry off, then flew away.

I planted the sweet potato slips! I think I planted 20 or 21; I ordered 20 and they sent 25. Some didn't make it (thank you, UPS, for taking and extra 4 days to get them to me!), but nearly all of them have new growth starting.

I also have a row of beans up. :thumbsup
Our Lowe’s has some really nice looking sweet potato plants I want to go get lol I ordered some planters hah

Another gardening related cross post from Show Me Your Pallet Projects!...

Although not a pallet project per se, here is how I squirrel proofed Dear Wife's eggplants in pots out on the deck. Just used some 6 foot long 4 foot high chicken wire and wrapped wire around the top and side to make a pocket cage, which I then slipped over the pot and plant. It works good.

The thing I like about these chicken wire anti-squirrel cages is that they fold flat for winter storage.

If you don't have to worry about winter storage space, you could easily make a pallet wood frame and staple on chicken wire. Probably look a little better than the all wire cages I made, but these have served us well for 3 years now.

We learned the hard way that squirrels love eggplants. They ate all the young eggplants our first year of growing them in pots out on the deck. These all wire cages have been good enough to keep the squirrels out and we had lots of eggplants since then.

Ugh... It's hot and humid today after all that rain this weekend. In the 90s today. Since fungus loves this weather, I sprayed fruit and nut trees, berries, grapes, potatoes, tomatoes, and roses with fruit tree spray. Sprayed watermelon, cantaloupe, pumpkins, cukes, and gourds with spinosad for SVB and cucumber bugs

Got a nice little handful of pink lemonade blueberries tonight for my sweat equity. 😂
