What did you do in the garden today?

I think I'll get a copy!

Good morning gardeners. Not much going on with the garden today. Laundry day and I was supposed to make bread today. I forgot to make the sponge last night so thankfully the temperatures will be in the low 70's again tomorrow. I weeded the winter squash bed and the kale and carrot bed as best I could. The carrots are just now getting their frilly tops and the second row of kale is just sprouting. I pulled the remainder of the bale of tacky straw out of the potting shed so I can work on putting more straw around the fingerling potatoes. I need to get another bale when I go to TSC. The lima beans look much happier now that the slugs aren't munching on them. There are more corn seedlings popping through the dirt. I can't wait until it's time to plant the beans and the squash with the corn. The old seed potatoes that I thought were dead are growing like crazy. They get very little attention and seem very happy. I'm really curious to see what develops with them. LOL! I finally planted a short row of chard behind the winter squash. It just felt weird not having any chard.

Was going to spray tomatoes but the winds are already too high this morning.
I'll feed and water this morning instead.

Work on the dress mock up continues. I just slipped it on without the front placket sewn in. The sleeves and yoke and chest are too tight, and the waist too high. So it's doing it's job of telling me HOW I want to fix the final pattern.

It's so cute. I dread cutting it up to make new pattern pieces. Is the way though.

I watered a lot of stuff and fertilized the b-nut squash that look a bit small and pale.

I also squashed a bunch of asparagus beetle larvae on my asparagus. Man, those things are UGLY! Very easy to catch, though. They don't drop off or try to get out of the way.

I feel like I am finally (!) getting ahead on that front.

My small round propagating jig rooted my cherry tomato plant. I think I had it on for a couple of weeks. The coco peat inside was dry, but I was happy to see roots. The sucker the jig was on, kept growing to about two feet and developed some full clusters, but I cut the leaves and clusters off when I transplanted it.
I will transplant the other two jigs tomorrow............:thumbsup

They named this grape cherry tomato variety Princess Yum Yum, but I call it candy. Its sweet and taste more like a sweet fruit when fully ripened to dark red. Although I have several plants, I eat all the fruit right after I rinse them.

I set my squash starts outside to get them hardened off for planting. It's cool and cloudy today, so I'll probably go ahead and put them into the ground this afternoon. Butterbush and summer squashes. I'm going to plant a few right next to my big pile of composted wood chips and see how they do.

I think I'll carefully cut around the plastic pots with scissors a couple inches down from the tops and leave the rim in place to protect against cutworms.
