What did you do in the garden today?

I got potatoes planted. Went out to the garden and picked tomatoes green beans zucchini and crookneck squash. Picked some wild mustard greens and decided I needed a stew. I changed it to jambalaya. Post pictures after I eat.

I kept my 4 Japanese cucumber plants pruned to a single stem, but I didn't see any female flowers, only male flowers, so I let the side branches grow and it fruited on the side branch. Also, I think the nursery hoodwinked me, the cucumber I see growing is the fat type, I don't think its the Japanese skinny long type.

Oh yeah, I’m fine. They didn’t take my younger brother, and older brother works in intelligence for the army. One woman from my village was killed, she was 25.

I went to check on the church garden today. Someone had reported some damage /vandalism a couple of days ago.

Someone had dumped out the big galvanized bucket that was my daughter’s flower garden but they left the other galvanized bucket alone. Oh and they stole the bucket too. Another person had all of her green bean plants pulled up, the beans taken, the support stakes pulled up and all of the green peppers picked.
I’m guessing either kids or someone with a hungry family.
I picked some Cheyenne pepper, green peppers, jalapeños and 1 ripe tomato from my garden bed there. I also found 2 huge tomato horn worms. 1 on a green pepper plant in my garden bed and another on a tomato plant in someone else’s bed. We aren’t supposed to mess with other people’s beds but I made an exception and picked of the tomato worm.

We got several cart loads of used pine shaving dumped on a garden area that are well saturated with chicken manure. They will get spread and tilled in for a tomato patch come spring.

The rain will hold off until tonight/tomorrow. I think this is Mother Nature's way of saying, "Hey, Sally! Go dig all those potatoes I grew for you!"

I think the ones drying on the porch are ready to be cleaned off and brought inside, so I'll have some place to put the fresh batch.

Speaking of potatoes... I think I'll roast some today. That sounds really tasty right now.

Good morning all. @Sueby haven’t seen you recently, how’re things? We made big progress yesterday as hubs was feeling well enough to go out and get some more work done. From this point I am on my own for the most part, at least until we build the beds and put up wire. I have to go get some stakes and the new gate today when I run my errands and hopefully I’ll remember paint. I’m headed out to put wood frames around three trees and fill with some blocks and soil before errands. Have a great day all!

I was away for a week, camping with some girlfriends! But I'm back now, back to work - ick. Post some pics! I'm always amazed at the changes you've made there.

I'll never be able to catch up here. But my lettuce & spinach look great. It's been cold, everything else is dying back. & my girls are all molting. DH caught one sleeping in the nest box & booted her. He's mean, I let them stay if they're molting because I feel bad for them.
