What did you do in the garden today?

I typically donate 12 - 15 dozen eggs per week to the local food pantry. That's on top of the eggs I sell to a handful of paying customers. The reduction in eggs doesn't affect me personally as much as it does the food pantry who then has to spend scarce resources on buying them from the store instead. Last week I was only able to deliver about 5 dozen. This week will be a little more than that but not by much... 😕
😢 Apparently I didn't think about donating to ppl in need. I will hopefully be able to take them to the rescue mission.

:tongue Printing costs have gone through the roof. I had a foreign language .pdf book that I was curious to find out how much it would cost at Office Depot to have them print it out. It would have cost about $70.00. No thanks, I'll either order a new printed book from Amazon for $15.00 or just use the .pdf file as is and not print it out.

BTW, I have 3 ink jet printers and every one has dried up jets in the printheads because I don't use them often enough to keep the jets clear. My mistake. Don't think I will buy another ink jet printer given how little I need to print out anything these days.
except they're using epson printers, nothing fancy in their shop
I just don't have a color printer in my house

:caf I have a ~15 year B/W laser printer that I still use. The only problem I am having with it is that it does not always feed the paper correctly. I think the rubber rollers that grab the paper are old and slip. I have cleaned the rollers with soap and water, and that works for a while, but then it starts to misfeed again. However, like you said, the toner never dries out and works every time, no matter how long it has been since the last time I printed anything.

:fl I stopped into Office Max just yesterday and asked them if they are going to have any Black Friday sales on colored laser printers. They don't know yet. But I am hoping they will. Yes, I am willing to pay a little more money for a laser printer that will last years and years compared to an ink jet printer that the heads will dry up in weeks if not used.
I love my wifi black laser printer.
I WOULD LOVE color one.

It actually never occurred to me until recently that pantries or other locations take fresh produce. I always just assumed it was more shelf stable items like canned, dried etc. This summer I was chatting with my neighbor and his wife was going to make a run to the pantry to drop off some fresh vegetables since he said they were low. So I grabbed a bunch of cucumbers and tomatoes that I had a surplus from the garden and had them add to their run.

I used to have a color laser printer, 1. it is heavy!! 2. Usually, if you buy it 2. hand the toner is empty, and renewing it will cost almost as much as a new printer!!! Of course depending on how much you print ( I had 4 kids at school, need I say more ?! 🤪) it will last years, or in my case around 1.5 years.
what I really miss is how fast it printed 😅 and it could also print on plastic , which was a great feature, the kids loved getting T shirts printed with their choice of picture, and I printed a sign beware of the dog with the picture of our dog on it 😜

I've been getting less than half my usual egg count going well over a month now. I don't have enough girls molting to account for that difference. As for feed, mine get a lot of different protein sources every day besides unlimited access to layer pellets including black oil sunflower seeds, oats, soybeans, flax seed, wheat, and more... Every day. That's in addition to 4 to 6 hrs per day of free ranging through the pasture, compost, and wooded areas at least 4 to 5 times per week.

do they lay somewhere else? I found a nest in the middle of the field, lol. they are hybrid layers so not likely they might be interested in brooding.

I'm happy knowing my girls are too young to stop laying. I thought there was something wrong because I haven't ever raised chickens before so I had to ask. I have almost have 2 dozen eggs that I don't know what to do with. Maybe I can get my neighbor to take them.

I boil extra eggs and feed all my animals (dogs, cat, poultry). helps with the feed bill as well.

@TJAnonymous could your chickens have worms or some other parasite? I’ve heard that will slow them down on egg laying. 🤷‍♀️
Mine are giving me 1 a day now if I’m lucky. 😞
I actually had to go buys eggs for the first time in over a decade. 😳

Hubby and I took 4 grandkids and 6 adults ( including us) to a Japanese steak house where they cook at your table. Out of the 10 of us, there were 5 people with November birthdays!
