The burn clinic said they are very impressed with how well his skin has healed and with how much of his range of motion he has regained ! He doesn’t go back to the burn clinic for 6 months.
He has 1 more sessions of PT to do and his mental state has been very stable.

I'm happy knowing my girls are too young to stop laying. I thought there was something wrong because I haven't ever raised chickens before so I had to ask. I have almost have 2 dozen eggs that I don't know what to do with. Maybe I can get my neighbor to take them.

I don't use the fabric and have not had any problems.
I live in a rural area and can get truckloads of those tubs. They even have them at recycle plant nearby. I even put 1 upside down and stack the tub on top. I have about 10 tubs , next year going to try carrots in one. I do grow cukes, tomatoes, peppers, and herbs all the time. I fill mine once a week and do add fertilizer once a month. I just coated all of them with chicken poo and ash topped off with bedding I got from my annual deep litter cleaning. My hubby put plain old dirt in one and it's rock hard compared to my 1/3 1/3 1/3 soil mix ones. I do have a couple of "tote" tubs but they are starting to crack and split after 4 years.
My holes are 1/4" on empty milk jugs etc. Nice thing is those are free.

Thanks for the feedback. In my sub-irrigated planters, I used that 1/3 1/3 1/3 mix as well. I have been saving milk jugs and plastic bottles to fill up some totes. Like you, I plan on just drilling small holes in the containers and not using any more weed barrier cloth - which I don't think is needed.

Might have to find some cattle ranchers around here to see if I can get some mineral tubs from them. Our recycle center does not let us take anything dropped off by someone else, even if we can use it and reduce the amount of stuff sent to the landfill.

I typically donate 12 - 15 dozen eggs per week to the local food pantry. That's on top of the eggs I sell to a handful of paying customers. The reduction in eggs doesn't affect me personally as much as it does the food pantry who then has to spend scarce resources on buying them from the store instead. Last week I was only able to deliver about 5 dozen. This week will be a little more than that but not by much...

Printing costs have gone through the roof. I had a foreign language .pdf book that I was curious to find out how much it would cost at Office Depot to have them print it out. It would have cost about $70.00. No thanks, I'll either order a new printed book from Amazon for $15.00 or just use the .pdf file as is and not print it out.

BTW, I have 3 ink jet printers and every one has dried up jets in the printheads because I don't use them often enough to keep the jets clear. My mistake. Don't think I will buy another ink jet printer given how little I need to print out anything these days.

That's why I coughed up a little bit more money (on Black Friday sale) to buy a laser printer. They use toner which doesn't dry up. I only have to buy a new cartridge every 3 or 4 years. It's great for infrequent printing.

I don’t think recyclable is the same as compostable.

Plastics, for example, might be recyclable, but certainly not compostable. But when it comes to paper products, I wonder if recyclable and compostable mean the same thing. At any rate, I would hope that we move to making all paper products compostable as well as recyclable.

I have a ~15 year B/W laser printer that I still use. The only problem I am having with it is that it does not always feed the paper correctly. I think the rubber rollers that grab the paper are old and slip. I have cleaned the rollers with soap and water, and that works for a while, but then it starts to misfeed again. However, like you said, the toner never dries out and works every time, no matter how long it has been since the last time I printed anything.

I stopped into Office Max just yesterday and asked them if they are going to have any Black Friday sales on colored laser printers. They don't know yet. But I am hoping they will. Yes, I am willing to pay a little more money for a laser printer that will last years and years compared to an ink jet printer that the heads will dry up in weeks if not used.

Yes the ranchers will be glad to get rid of them , I like them is UV resistant.

I was going to quote your cutter post as well but I am still getting my head around these forums. Powercutter they have these at bunnings for 89. Looks like it would save me playing around with razors. I once tried using a craft knife with it extended on something too tough for it and broke it while jamming my hand down on the broken piece. I have too many little scars like that.

Brother laser printers are pretty good, I bought a MFC mono laser from them recently but it was like 279 aud. Does alright but another cheap option would be to look for those 2nd hand commercial units. I was tempted on some options but you just need the room for them I suppose.

Not much on today. Will try plumbing up the water situation for the quail and start the measuring to install automated stuff. Everything outside is going well but the pumpkin patch is just so shaded out that the watermelons growing there are way behind the ones in full sun. I need to sow more before things start heating up again.
