What did you do in the garden today?

I did a search of lupine. I found Lupinus perennis is native in MN. I ordered seed to plant at my MN cabin. Might as well have a native wildflower.

take that pot out of water. it is too much water that kills it. water it lightly every 2-3 days. I used to kill my plants by overwatering them till a friend of mine told me not to.

I started emptying the plant base after watering them.

When I last planted my tomato seedling, I notice that there were a lot of just born tiny knats wiggling around in the coco peat. I did a search and found out that 2TBS of Spinosad per half gallon of water will kill them and it's safe to use on edible plants.

Yay no more fungus knats.......................

I turned my compost bin at 135 F. Love that chicken poop!

I have 3 greenhouses and one of the bedrooms would work for a place to put them but I was thinking more about being able to get the plants in the ground before April 15th. Of course PG&E has been sending their prices through the roof so until I can get off grid I'm not looking into lining their pockets. Lol

I would not try to plant them out until the weather is warm enough and stable and therefor you don't need to start the seeds until 6 to 8 weeks before the safe weather date. When I try and plant out tomatoes in real cool weather with frost protection, early , they survived fine and produced early fruit, but never are real productive as plants planted later in the spring. If you only care about some early fruit it will work for you, I sometimes do one or two plants that way.

Very interesting! I might stagger my planting out next spring, to see if there is a difference in production.

But... I have several different varieties, so I'd have to do some of the same particular one, to make it a truer comparison.

Tomatoes don't really get going until their soil temperature hits 70'F. Until then they are very susceptible to disease and under great stress.
There are varieties that do better in cooler weather, usually determinate ones bred for short season production.

Just to clarify I'm not going to plant anything outside until it's time. I do have 3 greenhouses that I can use for indoor plants. The problem is right now I have cool weather crops in the 2 small ones. I think I could get plants growing in the house but I don't want to take up all the space.
