What did you do in the garden today?

Fennel has varieties that are for the bulb or for the seeds. Kinda like CX or layers.

Chard is what I grow because spinach usually bolts after 3 leaves . I still try spinach and if it's a cool wet spring I am successful. Keep saying I'm trying in the fall but forget.
Chard developed from beets, also known as silver beet. Would never know because roots are totally different.

We have had limited success with spinach. However, one year we planted it in late Aug or Sept. we planted it between the bean towers where it only got full sun a few hours a day, the rest of the time there was shade from the towers and then full shade from the barn after 5 pm. It seemed very happy. So, this year I will try another variety and will try to sow fairly early, for spring and again for fall.

What do you guys think about not rotating where I plant my green beans? I have a trellis in the garden - it's an arch at the entry way & it works so well for beans. I always rotate my crops, but I don't want to move the beans. Think they'll be ok if I add a lot of compost or something? This will be year 3 in the same spot.

I must have spring fever, I laid in bed for hours mapping out my garden in my head.

Rotation is mostly about pests, disease, and nutrition in the soil. If you’ve never had a problem, go for it!

I think your beans will be fine. I don't rotate my beans every year either. This will be the 4th year in the same spot for my green beans. My butter beans have been in the same row for many years.

As long as you didn't have problems last year, I'd add fresh compost and plant away!

Nice days and outside a lot of the time. No trouble falling asleep. DW noticed a bruise on my leg. What happened? I told her I was learning to fly but my landing was rough. I am on a blood thinner and bruise easily.

Cute! He looks a lot like our dog. White bib. White paws....But our dog has no white spot on her nose.

What breed is your dog? The lady I got him from said Border Collie and McNabb but I don't see it.

Ok, good to know! I might try it. There are some things (I have to look them up) that I've heard it does not get along with.
