What did you do in the garden today?

Planted my Sugar snap peas this afternoon just as it started to drizzle.

It's supposed to rain all night, and day tomorrow, so I wanted to at least get the peas in the ground.

Mice like the inside of our hay baler. I suppose there are small warm spaces and lot of seeds in the nooks and crannies.
At least your mice are cute!
"Were" cute :(

I've trapped many mice and rats. I always feel bad about the mice, as their little faces are so cute.

That reminds me of a poem I had to memorize for school...many, many years ago:

Wart story. My great grandparents (gone before I was born) had a strange method. Cut a fresh pea in half and rub it on the wart. Then put the pea where no one can find it. Caused a fuss because great grandmother threw it in the well. Wart disappeared I was told.
And I always thought the cure was to rub a potato half on the wart, and then bury the spud on the night of a new moon.

I made a impulse purchase of garden seeds today. Got a packet each of Danver's Half Long carrots and some short season Jalapeno seeds. Almost bought leek seeds too but didn't.

And a couple weeks after getting my Baker Creek seed order they sent me a catalog. Nice catalog!

Our dr told us to put airproof tape (we used white bandage tape) over them for 23 hours a day and soak them in epsom salt water for the other hour. He said theory is depriving them of oxygen will make them go away. He thought it worked as well as burning or cutting, better than using acid, and it didn't leave a scar. It takes a few weeks.

I think it worked but it is hard to say when they go away on their own at varying intervals. The kids had them on their hands quite a bit. They preferred this to having them visible.

Lol. Intesresting, Harvard medical recommends a version of this.

Another wart story.
When I was pregnant with my daughter (42 yrs ago). I was in the drs office for my check up. I had never had any warts. I now had one on the palm of my hand. I showed it to him. He told me I was in luck. He could cure it but only in pregnant women. I liked him as a dr and had known him for years but out of the blue he spit on my hand. He proceeded to rub it into the wart. Of course I had a surprised look! I told him he was a voodoo dr. 🤣 He said it would be gone in 2 wks.

Oddest thing. It was gone before my next check up.
I told him he WAS a voodoo dr! :gig

I got a duplicate catalog from Baker's Creek. I took it in to work where it was greatly appreciated.

I grew either Danver's or Nante's half long carrots. They did well.

I grew Nantes half longs last year. Figured I'd shake things up and go with a different short carrot this year. I've heard of Danver's half longs all my life but never grew them. The Nantes did pretty good last year.
