What did you do in the garden today?

I rearranged the fence around my garden so that there's around 100 more square feet that are protected from the deer. After that I planted two varieties of flower seed. One is a native flower I collected seeds from last summer. The other is a variety I purchased.

Both require cold stratification in order to sprout. I hope I got them in the ground early enough.

I also fired up my lawn tractor and drove it around the yard for a while to work the engine and transmission, and charge the battery.

It got up to 57F here yesterday. I pulled up the plastic fencing at the back of the big garden and pounded 4 T posts into the ground. I finally got the hay bale in the front yard leftover from Halloween and Christmas decoration's split up and moved. I also ordered pinto bean seeds. Sunday dinner is going to be chicken and okra gumbo in a nod to the upcoming Mardi Gras. I’ll be using the okra and tomatoes I grew. Tomorrow I’ll be making up a muffuletta for Tuesday’s dinner. Hopefully the grandkids will help with planting onion seeds today.

Burnt a big pile of grapevines, multiflora, and honeysuckle yesterday. Enjoyed the last day of warm weather. Temperature started dropping last night and snow in the coming forecast.
