What did you do in the garden today?

Saw a cabbage butterfly. Found a dead vole on the deck. Looked roughed up. Dog must have got it. Good dog! Made beef stew in the crockpot. Just enough for 2. I have done well downsizing quantity for 2. Go to foot doctor today for checkup on the removed wart. Still sore after 2 weeks. Slow healing. I am diabetic and worry about my feet. Tired of hobbling around on a sore foot. A real chore just getting to the mailbox.
At first I read, dog got the vole, made stew 🤪😂 have you tried manuka honey?! It really helps with slow healing wounds!! But you need a special medical grade salve or band aid soaked with it ( my hubby was treated with it after an operation)

It's spring break! So I started celery, onions, leeks, peppers, tomatoes, merigolds and true potato seed from my rainbow potatoes last year. Don't know which ones fruited so I'm excited to see what I get. I saved a lot of seeds last year but need to learn how to save onions, leeks, and celery seed.
Does anyone use lovage instead of celery?

It was laundry day today. I did manage a little bit of garden work. I sank 2 T posts to support the strawberry grow bags. Fingers crossed the hanging frame holds up. I also did more cleaning in the big garden bed.

Boo to the cabbage moth.
Yeah for the dog getting voles.
Hoping the foot gets better

I decided to cull my Thai musk melon growing in my DYI earth box. They were not doing so well, so I decided to plant something else. However, I did manage to get a plump 3-pound melon before I culled it.

This 3 lb. musk melon that I picked a while ago, just began to turn slightly soft, so I peeled the skin off with a potato peeler, took the seeds out and threw the melon into my blender with a cup of sugar and milk.

It tastes like a sweet melon smoothie. Raw young Thai Musk Melon taste exactly like a cucumber and can be pickled like a cucumber. However, when they turn ripe, their flesh becomes soft and is typically served with sweetened condensed milk. The melon itself is not sweet, but it has a melon flavor.

It was bland like my Kajari melon, but the Kajari melon has a stronger melon taste when sugar or sweetened condensed milk is added to it. It tastes exactly like the melon popsicles in this picture.

Super nice out today, supposed to be even nicer tmrw, almost 70. Getting DH to pull together everything I need to get my strawberries planted in a GreenStalk, they are shipping soon. I'm still on a 5lb weight limit so he's got to collect everything so I can assemble potting mix & fill the GS without bending.
