What did you do in the garden today?

I'm working on my raised beds, topping them off with compost and dirt.

I had a brainstorm: took off the top plank on the raised beds, which made it SO much easier to dump the compost and dirt into the bed!

Making progress. I'm hoping to get another load in each bed before the end of the day, or the end of my energy...

I have all but tomatillo planted bought read.
Going to set then to seed now.

I didn't really bust my behind too much today. Just didn't have it in me. I did get about 95% of the tomato bed done. Shoveling a half of a cubic yard of 4" river rock just kicked my butt at 80 degrees outside. So I was a bit leisurely about shoveling the dirt... I'll finish it up tomorrow and also do a couple more smaller beds. Maybe get DH to till this weekend...

Oh, I had a first that I need to share. I was clearing some weeds out of the hoop house beds and found half of a corn cob from last year's crop mixed down in the leftover straw. One of the kernels actually rooted! That's the first time I've ever had a CORN volunteer!

I get those under bird feeders sometimes. From the cracked corn in wild bird feed! Determined lil sucker's they are.
