What did you do in the garden today?

Apparently I misspoke about the rainfall. It was really only 5 feet. Still way more than average. Like at least a foot over average. I actually woke up to sunshine this morning so things are looking better. I was serenaded by the sump pump all night long. But I did sleep. The sugar beet seeds I planted last Sunday are already starting to come up.

Tomato math is a thing. I bought more tomatoes today. 🤦‍♀️ There's something wrong with me
It's totally a thing. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU! I'm the same way, and I'm totally ... something.
I put pepper and tomato seeds in small containers without holes. about 2/3 soil, a piece of kitchen towel, watered a bit then spread some seeds. I put another piece of kitchen towel and some soil on top. watered it carefully so that seeds don't move and let it sit for 2-3 days. I add water if needed. that speeds up germination. about day 4 I pierce the containers so the seedling don't drown. that way pepper seeds don't need 3 weeks to germinate.
Interesting! I've never heard of this. Copied and saved for future reference, ie, next spring when I start my peppers.

That is still a LOT of water! What do you do with the sugar beets?

Cold, cloudy, windy & wasn't supposed to rain, but we've had some spritzing cloud bursts & a shower coming 10am-ish. This morning I'm indoors, doing laundry, etc. I will be painting on the jobsite tomorrow & Monday as it won't be rainy & windy then. So today, after the rain stops, I will rake the wildflower area I tilled again & get my seeds planted & covered with straw. It is moist but not muddy, so planting will go well. The wind should be minimal by then & be getting calmer, too.

I wanted to share this lady's video on her garden, as I am loving her way!

Does anyone know what milkweed needs to bloom? We have wild milkweed on our property but it doesn't bloom very much.
What type of Milkweed do you have? I know that mine need a lot of sunshine & sometimes it takes a year or 2 before they bloom. The ones that sprouted in mostly shade area do not bloom as much.

This one grows wild at my place, just south of you in Lewes, Delaware. Is this like yours?

Several years. Also the sap is toxic so make sure it's not in hay. Animals will avoid it in the field. Caterpillars that eat it are toxic so they don't get eaten.
