What did you do in the garden today?

Mom's garden bed is filled with 3.5 cubic yards of garden soil. 100's of shovels and approx. 20 wheel barrows ran from the front curb all the way to the back fence where we setup the garden. We planted 6 tomatoes, 6 bell peppers (3 different varieties), about 100 onions, and 3 turnips (for the greens just). She started some seeds too that she'll transplant in a few weeks when their ready. She still has plenty of room right now in the 110 square feet of planting space. It's good to see her getting into it finally, even if she is making a few mistakes along the way. My favorite mistake so far is she started radishes in small pots - she hasn't learned that sometimes direct sowing is better. I'm pretty sure I made the same mistake before - I actually recall starting corn in cups one year. LOL!

My palovina is in
bloom( first time ever for that tree) the frost killed off multiple leaves and buds, but a few managed to pull through 🥰

My first pears, let’s see if they really get to grow up to be pears I can eat 🙏🏻
Right now it is dry as a desert, I am watering whatever I manage, but water is heavy 🙄

Bees are busy pollinating the sterile flower sprout blossoms 🤪 I’ve let them standing for the insects (bumble bees love them too)

MIX IN BUCKET OR JUG FIRST BEFORE PUTTING IN SPRAYER TO AVOID CLOGS.

Mix lime and water FIRST to dissolve lime BEFORE adding copper sulfate.

For spraying in small amounts, prepare as above but only mix 1 gallon (3.5 L) of water, 3 1/3 tablespoons (50 ml.) of copper sulfate and 10 tablespoons (148 ml.) of hydrated lime. Agitate the mixture thoroughly before you spray.

USE WITHIN 2 HOURS. Shake sprayer often to keep mixture from settling.

For larger amounts, you can find a scaled recipe here - https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/info/diy-bordeaux-fungicide.htm
Thanks!

Is this the kind of line I’m looking for?

I just saw that cutworms nipped two of my bok choi plants off at ground level. I gently dug in the soil around the plants but didn't find the little suckers. I need to make some cutworm collars out of some of my Red Solo Cups.

I cut the bottom off the cheap pots that annuals come in.

My mom used cardboard milk cartons, but I have used plastic soda bottles to create collars, too.

I did a quick Walmart delivery for washers and screws yesterday. I got the last piece of HC hung. Today I put the door together and hopefully move the littles into their grow out pen. My potatoes are starting to pop through the dirt. I left my tomato starts out all last night. They look fine. I’m hoping to get back to gardening in the next few days. Tomorrow I get to take the grand kids shopping for Mother’s Day gifts. I did managed to make brownies yesterday so that should provide my daily chocolate fix for a little while.

The ticks are bad here this year too.
We need temperatures far below freezing for much longer than the two weeks we had.
I've already pulled two off my head this year.
I found two on me back in February. I was sure that they weren't ticks, not in February! But yeah, they were. I don't think they bit me.
:fl:fl

You can see exactly how high the girls can jump!
My girls keep my fruit trees tidy just like that. 🤣 I love watching them jump for leaves.

Yesterday I got everything ready in the morning for us to leave for Disneyland. I fertilized everything, and gave everything a good drink. I put the remaining seedlings in my lean-to shed behind the garage. Sure they won't get good light for the next two days, but they won't die!

Before we left I saw that my pole beans are coming up. Bummer that I can't be home. Hoping that the earwigs and rollies leave them alone while I'm gone. I put out bait.
