What did you do in the garden today?

Bean towers are strung. Need to plant some more bean seeds.

Following the carrot video (posted by @Smokerbill i recall), I soaked carrot seeds in water for a few days. Today made cornstarch gel and mixed in the carrot seeds. Then, using a plastic bag, spread them in a trench. Usually one doesn’t soak seeds for days, so they may be dead. But, carrot seeds are notoriously hard to get going bc they really are sensitive to drying out, which this method helps to bypass. Anyway, here’s the last row before being covered with dirt. There are 5 rows, one row per variety.

If all the carrot seeds I planted take off, well, I’ll be in carrots thru 2025, I think.
I'm just about ready to try the soaking/cornstarch gel method to plant carrot seeds in my garden. I need to start soaking some seeds in water today.

Hope it works out for us!

I was going to start installing my drip irrigation system a few days ago but found that I still needed a few things. I returned a couple items to Amazon that I didn't need and bought a few connectors at HomeDepot today. One more item (1/2" end caps) are arriving tomorrow, and I hope that's the last thing I'll need to buy.

My cats are the same

Well, goats don't eat deer and rabbits........but goats and rabbits also eat poison ivy :D
That was how I read it at first, too and it made me chuckle!

I should definitely try this! It probably would have made planting my soaked beet seeds easier, more uniform, and less crowded.

Today, I went into the garden and moved all the seedlings to where they will be planted. I counted my pepper plants, and discovered I have 36 plants. My garden plan only calls for 19, but I know I'll be able to move some things around and get them to fit. This is the only problem with having to thin out seedlings, but not having the heart to kill them. My strawberries are beginning to ripen, and I am so excited to eat them!! I have definitely made the decision to toss a lot of seeds all over in the fall so they pop up in the spring. I have volunteer marigolds, borage (unsurprising), calendula (also not surprising), mustard, nasturtium, dill, cilantro... it has me curious how much stuff I could plant in the fall and have pop up once winter and snow are done!

I saw a low of 40° in the forecast for Thursday, and I don't really want to plant everything, and then have to cover it if that number isn't currently accurate... but everything needs to be planted...

Peppers like to hold hands - you can fit em! LOL

I'm a little concerned for my peppers. They've been in the garden for a few weeks now and have endured several upper 30's- low 40's nights. The tomatoes are looking good and growing, but the peppers are just standing still.

Next year my peppers won't go into the garden until after June 1st. I'll plant the seeds indoors early March.

Nothing much today, it's been thundery, storms on and off. I did trim some weeds with my hand pruners, pulled more wisteria and Virginia Creeper. And some other stuff trying to take over the yard.
Here's a couple weeds that are spreading through all my beds. Anyone know what they are?
