What did you do in the garden today?

I got a good 1/3 of the garden cardboarded & mulched. I didn't have enough cardboard to do the lower part. That's more work than I've done in the last 2 years (cuz of my back surgeries). Felt good to move. I may regret it tmrw tho. :lau

Butterfly weed looks like it's going to burst soon. The wild violets were choking it out this year so it's a little sparse.

On Sedges I have yellow nutsedge here. At the cabin I have Pennsylvania sedge. A better behaved sedge IMO. I found large patches of it in the woods where enough light got in. I considered it as a grass substitute. However by the time the building of the cabin was done I needed something in a hurry on bare ground. Grass was the quickest. Sedge looked like a grass that stayed kind of short in a seasonal property that gets mowed infrequently.
This 2 acres is full of yellow & purple nutsedges, plus Bermuda & Johnsongrass & other grasses I have no idea what are called. So annoying! They like to creep & choke out everything else.

I think I figured out how to support a hanging Black Giant Winter Melon. I tried forming a net with paracord and hung it sideways, but the cord cut into the flesh.

The next thing I tried worked, I half hitched the stem close to the winter melon and it didn't fall off yet, must be at least 25lbs or more.

By the way, I buried two very large 10lbs koi about a month before I planted my winter melon. The Indians where on to something. I see why they did it.

Oh ya, Alaska fish fertilizer is amazing stuff! (since I don't, knock wood, have fish falling from the sky here)

Found the 'leaks'. I missed putting the end caps on two of the main lines. HA!

4 trays of finely diced onion now in the freeze dryer -1 tray is a sweet onion
and one tray of Mexican sweet corn kernels

What did you do in your garden today?

I picked a bunch of Rattlesnake green beans and Cherokee wax beans, a few tomatoes, three eggplants, some broccoli shoots, and jalapenos. Pretty happy with today's harvest!

My stepdad cleaned up some sharp objects over here in Ohio.

Windy, with a chance you need a new deck table 🙃😐😐😐

Can you rent goats? 🤔
Yes. I've seen videos of people who rent goats for a day or so. They set up temporary electric fencing where needed, add goats. There's none near me. Maybe I will open my own rent-a-goat service! :gig
