What did you do in the garden today?

We're redoing our bathroom. For our current sink, we eventually just took out the stopper, because it didn't work. Do you have a link/picture of these? I'm not sure what you're talking about, and I really want this project to be a success. In all parts.

I know, I'm asking a lot for everything to go right in this venture.

I'm also sure I'm in for huge sticker shock at the final bill. Especially when hubby has changed his mind about a few things and we'll need an electrician and a plumber to do some work. They aren't cheap.

I don't begrudge them what they make, either! Plumbing... ewww. Electricity... dangerous.
Ooo.... I want to remodel both bathrooms in our house. I figured I'd start with the kids since all I want to do is pull out their shower/tub insert and replace it with a walk-in shower. Should be easy and straightforward, right?

I got a quote from a Kohler contractor off of Nextdoor. Talk about sticker shock... $20k. For a shower. And no, it's NOT lined in gold. I told them to go pound sand. I'll do it myself... Especially when I already own all the tile. I'm estimating the rest of the material will cost me about $3k... We are waiting until later in the fall to do it.

The other bathroom is far more complicated because we need to cut concrete and extend the drain about 5 ft to a new area. I will definitely require a plumber for that part....

Spent the morning cleaning out the cow peas. I will replace with the yard long green beans. We like the taste of those and they hang down. The cow peas stood straight up making almost impossible to pick!
I picked a lot of green tomatoes.
We are having fried green tomatoes, eggplant, okra and dill pickles. I wonder if my stomach will hate me tomorrow. 😂
I also pulled out the cucumbers on one side and left about 6 vines on other side
😅

I picked basil, kale and chard then weeded for an hour. Despite the recent rain we have received the gardens on the hill were still dry. I put the sprinkler on the green beans and squash garden for about 30 minutes. I’ll wait to do the grapes and the big garden. The bean varieties are all doing well, they do need to plump up before I pick them. I checked on my pumpkin plants and they are doing well. I still need to go and run the mower in the front yard. After I finish my coffee.

My plumber cost me 3k to change a tub/shower to a shower and I did all the drywall, supplied the fixtures, did the painting and supplied the door and installed that myself.

Rain is threatening here, I guess I wasted my time watering this morning.

On the bright side, a handful of pea pods were dry enough to harvest for seed, and the basil, catnip and oregano are all in bloom. If I can keep them alive through the ongoing muggy heat, that should be food for the pollinators (no bees yet, but one of the hummingbirds already visited once) and emergency seeds for me and the seed library.

Now if only the cutworms would leave them alone. 😒
