What did you do in the garden today?

Don’t come to Massachusetts. We have tornadoes, hurricanes, nor’easters, humidity, heavy snowfalls and bears.
Lots of people in Massachusetts too I think.

I also have the snow fall and southern part of Illinois has bear sightings every so often. There's a yearling male wandering around down there this month

All I have is a couple of volcanoes 60 or 70 miles away. I'll be ok if the volcanic gasses and ash blow towards the east.
Yes your state, actually the whole coast, is not on my want list 😂

I'd like to relocate as well. We have great fresh water here but other than that, not really a great place overall.
I love my property... It's right on the very edge of a small town (5000ish people). But there's woods and meadow all around me so my property seems much more secluded than it is. I've also invested a lot to provide resiliency in the form of 22kW solar panel system, whole house propane generator with auto fail over, and loads of fruit and nut trees, berries, and a stocked pond in addition to my livestock.

The down side? A developer is building an apartment complex down the road and is fighting to buy property across the street from my driveway so he can put in a 2nd egress exit right across from me. 😡 My next door neighbor (who had a 6000 SF house) was so mad about being able to see the apartments from his front yard, he sold his house and moved away... BUT the a$$hat kept the vacant lot between his house and mine (which he cheated/scammed from the previous homeowner of my house). He refuses to sell it back to me because HE wants to put a subdivision on it... Frigging hypocrite.

So DH and I are considering selling and moving deeper into the mountains but we are waiting until interest rates come back to normal.

So I have the luxury of choosing an area without hurricane, fires, earthquake or volcano. Right now I have humidity and tornadoes... I would like to get away from those... so far I haven't found anywhere that fits my requirements
Michigan has:
--heavy snows and cold winters, some years worse than others
--Earthquakes that make the news because, Oh wow! Did you feel that? No? That was an earthquake! Really! Here in Michigan!
--We can get tornados and straight line winds
--Any place can get a fire, and we have had some, mostly in the UP where they have more forests
--Our "really hot days" can be 90-95, but we rarely ever hit 100. Humidity, yeah, but not like the south.

I am a believer of spiritual or rather a "conscious energy" & open minded. That is the only way I can make some sense of it all. Life is an energy force, it is a gift to be respected, protected & cherished.
I love how you put this!

I dug up two potato plants today. The plants are dying back. I need to mark where they are, as they tend to get lost. I won't do the final digging for awhile. They can sit in the ground and not be in my way in the basement.
I need to harvest my sweet potatoes; they have also died back. You have inspired me, maybe tomorrow.

I finally figured out how to flavor my lemonade to my liking. I must have use 2 tbs of sugar, 1 packet of Emergence C for 1 cup of unsweetened lemonade. Emergence C is a sweetened daily immune support drink that pairs well with homemade lemonade.

I squeezed my last giant lemon into a qt mason jar and filled the rest up with filtered water.

Southern Michigan has Similar climate to northern Illinois where I am. Well actually the last big snow was ground hog day 2012. Last year I plowed 3 x and the year before no snowfall big enough to plow. So I guess we don't get a lot of snow anymore.
Might be more humid here because of the corn.
Daylight length is a little different. We get those little news maker earthquakes too. I can deal with those...never noticed them 😂

I was going to water everything today as we are going to have temps in the 100's next week and @Midnight we FINALLY got a real rain.! 3 hours worth.
Just to let you know how long it's been I was sleeping, woke up and heard rain and told my Alexa to turn off!!:gig:eek:
I love the sound of rain got 2 1/4 inches! Thank you God. I will still check cukes tho. I did put up 2 small jars of cowboy candy and 5 pints of pickles this last week. Now my green beans ? Pickle or freeze or both? I'll have carpal tunnel surgery next month in case for 2 weeks that ought to be fun ? Kind of like that old joke about a one armed paper hanger! If nothing else the hens will eat well ❤️‍🩹.
