What did you do in the garden today?

This is my life story. But I put binder clips on all my stashed gloves to keep the spiders from climbing in (a paranoia I have for some reason). I'm fighting 2 cucumber pricky slivers as I type because I didn't wear my gloves. :smack

Chilly out again today & loving it. It was the first night without the ac on in months.
there was a wasp in my glove and it stung me when i put them on . so no more wearing glovies

Well, the little rows of overwinter veggies are germinating very well. The kids and I reclaimed another strip of ground by chopping, cutting, raking- you all know the drill- then we covered it with cardboard and relocated the late potatoes in their grow bags. It is all fairly tidy and pretty encouraging given the overwhelming tangle we have tackled. Grandson Augie is earning his pickup truck by working with us. I'm proud of him. Grand-daughter Cordelia planted shallots and then made grilled chicken for our supper. It was delish! I made a big mess of mixed garden vegetables using my mother-in-law Renois' method. Dice up green tomatoes, okra, sweet onion, eggplant and summer squash, ( my mixture, use whatever you like) then sprinkle about 1/2 cup of corn meal and 1/2 cup of flour and salt and pepper to taste. Toss to coat then break an egg or two into the mixture and toss again until the veggies are lightly battered. I heat a little oil in a cast iron pan on medium heat and crisp up a 1" layer of the veg mix, break it up and brown some more. I usually need to cook a couple of batches like this so I hold the cooked portion in a warm oven. You are welcome!

My hand scrub brush, actually not even for hands, got one in the shower & 2 by sinks. The real hand brushes weren't tough enough. I need to apply Neosporin or Burts Bees hand salve & wear cotton gloves to bed again. That routine works good to heal. Yes, & use the gloves!View attachment 3924570
Somehow. Though I can pick up hot jars out of my canner bare handed...I can't scrub my hands or feet with a brush or cloth.... It tickles and it's the worst thing ever. 🤣

Well, this batch germinated just fine.... I may have gone a little overboard. I may need to thin them. 😂

DS was enjoying his sunflowers this evening. He asked me to take pictures. They are almost done for the year.

We had one giant one! This was a few weeks ago.

All this talk about stuff in your gloves and boots. One time I turned my pants right side out and there was a very, very, large wolf spider in them that wound up on my shoulder. I flung it off and it vanished.

A few weeks ago I was driving my son to daycare and felt something crawling on my thigh. I grabbed it and just held it away from my leg and took a detour back to the driveway and most certainly removed my pants in the driveway to discover that there was a baby lizard in my pants. I killed it on accident when I was holding it during the drive. It was the one drive that I was glad I drive an automatic these days. 🤣

Love those sunflowers!

My mom was putting on her boots one morning and screamed at the top of her lungs. I walked into the room as she was throwing her boot…a mouse popped out of it and chaos ensued. Dogs and cats chasing it all over, climbing the drapes, etc :gig

Anyone else use OverEz Chicken Waterer and Chicken Feeder?
Trying to find a way when we will be gone for several days - care for chickens.
I’m still using their normal feeders and waters bc they are creatures of habit.
So it doesn’t hold enough feed for the time you’ll be away? The only thing I’ve found that fits that bill for me is five gallon bucket feeders and waterers. Gravity feeders too, but the five gallon for water.
