What did you do in the garden today?

Picked a few freezer beans this morning. The vining rattlesnake beans are just starting to produce.

I pruned several big leaves from the zucchini plants. None of the fruit have set on yet, all shriveled and died so far. Thought opening up the bush would make the blossoms more visible to the pollinators.

Have you tried hand pollinating? I've had great success doing this.

Picked all the ready kale and collard greens, and zucchini. Have harvested peaches a few times. Green beans are becoming seed for next season. It's been raining, stopped for most of today, raining tonight. I'm a bit concerned about my shelling beans getting fungus and not finishing with all the dampness. I have one more potato plant to dig..Sunflowers and dahlias have provided lots of indoor joy.

Good morning gardeners. My pumpkin plants must be related to your’s @Love Donkeys. It’s been another bad season for squash here. I have four very small butternut squash and only harvested 4 zucchini. I’m running the sprinklers today for the vegetables still in the ground and the new seedlings. I’m going to try to work on the weeds again this afternoon. Fingers crossed.

That's on my list of things to try too. What percentage of salt did you go with?
For two pounds I did 1.5 Tbsp of salt. 6 Tbsp of sugar, I did half light brown and half granulated cane. 6 cloves of garlic.

@Love Donkeys and @Wee Farmer Sarah most of my Jack-o-lantern pumpkins are doing terribly. Not a single fruit. Of the 12 I tried to plant earlier in the year only two have even made female flowers and those wither off before the blossoms are even developed enough to open. I have a few pie pumpkins and the khaki seed pumpkin vines are healthy and have a bunch of fruit. I started new pumpkins and tried planting them in different areas. If they make fruit, great! If not, I'm going to change my strategies next year.

Humid this morning, but only 65 at at the moment. I'll take that win with a quick trip to the feed store.
Next weeks I need to bottle up some chili sauce. I absolutely need to clean and sort the fridge, but that will wait for the day before rubbish collection.
The garden is in holding mode as I wait for the next batch of tomatoes to ripen.

I'm an only child as well. I kept busy though. Given my childhood traumas I'm glad I didn't have a sibling to share the terrible things. Though in another life I would have enjoyed a sibling. I married into siblings, three brothers and a sister.
I have two older sisters, but they're a bit older than me, so for the most part I was an only child. We have good relationships as adults, and we do love each other.

My dh is the middle child between two dysfunctional sisters. But he has a wonderful first cousin who is like a sister!
