What did you do in the garden today?

Have you tried putting 1TBS of vinegar with 4 cups of water to boil the eggs.
I’m trying that right now.

I don’t know if there is a connection but someone who used to judge eggs said mine had excellent shell thickness. They are a whole lot thicker than store bought.

The ACV in water didn’t help w peeling either. I put in ice bath right after.
I really am convinced that I need to let the eggs age.
Mine have some super shells 😂

My old age hen that was living in my walled jungle of a garden is missing this morning and there are feathers out there. I don't see feathers outside the garden, so my best guess is an owl, of which we have many. She refused to come in last night, and I'm not sure she had more than a week or so left in her old soul, but she spent the last week living freely in the garden, safe from being tormented daily by a flock that didn't appreciate her age.
So there's that.

smoke from Canada has rolled in, but I'm going to go mow and be done with it.
The next 4 days will be 75, but wind free, and that can feel miserable when you're working out there for hours on end. I'd rather today's 80s and windy.

I think one more week of 90s and nights in the upper 60s, and then I'll cut the tomato plants so they can finish what they're doing.

Have a great day all.

Morning harvest...

@Minanora , how are your fermenting peppers coming along? The freezer bag lid on mine started ballooning up from gas pressure after a couple days in the jar. It's pushed a little bit of liquid out past the ring into the bowl, so it's venting enough to prevent the jar from exploding. I hope. LOL

I'm bummed about my garden this year. I don't have any peppers or zucchini and no pumpkins for the grandkids. I haven't been out there in a few days because I have been letting the girls out to free range and I don't want them to try to follow me and get killed by Bella. I'm just hoping that next year will be a blessing.

Sorry for your loss. I have 2 old gals, set them up in their own space together so they can take it slow. They could pass any day but for now they dustbathe & hang out in peace. Still sad when they do check out, however they go.

2 Golden Gals, besties, Chanel & Mimi ❤️ They have the Senior Suite to themselves.

Sunday morning I weedwhacked around my tomatoes without eyewear on. STUPID. Was in the ER Sunday night with a scratched cornea. I know better than that. My tomatoes are almost done. Great year for them and frankly I'm sick to death of them. Cousins keep dropping off their extra maters good Lord. Juice!!!
I was using the hedge clippers when I heard and felt a CRACK as something hit my safety glasses. It's best to use them, always.
