Thats a pumpkin, that's the type of pumpkins they sell at my local supermarket. I only see the big orange ones being sold in the Halloween month.

You're the second person to say pumpkin. The turkeys love it and I was wanting to plant some

pumpkin is a generic term for a winter squash.
that appears to be a blue Hubbard squash, which is one of the many types of winter squash that gets cooked and canned and labeled as "pumpkin"

I harvested three purple top turnips, cooked them and their greens, ate some.

I chopped up the bigger ribs and some of the greens, fed them to the flock. They weren't sure about eating the bits, but the Dominiques decided to try them again.

That pumpkin or squash looks like it is in the C. Maxima group. Perhaps a Queensland blue. Rain coming today. No outside work. Changed 2 lightbulbs. Shoulder did not like overhead work. Iced it.

Our "nicest day of the week" has turned into a dreary, foggy morning. I think I might rake the front yard again and haul leaves down to the garden.

Forgot to post: Last year someone on here posted pictures of their Fairy Tale Pumpkins and I had to have some, they were so pretty with thick fleshy fruit. They were even better than I hoped! So beautiful inside and out!

Seed Saver catalog just came! Already started my Wish List! This next year I'm really tempted to ask DH to till me a bigger spot in our side pasture to grow a bigger corn patch. Previously this was impossible because of the horses but we don't have any currently as they are at the training barn. I'd still have to put up a temporary fence to keep goats and critters out though. Anyway... Dreaming about this option and still have a few months to convince DH of my vision.

I raked the front yard for (hopefully!) the last time this year, and hauled them down to the garden to sit for the winter.

I emptied the water IBC tote.

Wind advisory today and tomorrow. Mouse trap report. The J.T Eaton traps are not very good. Mice get out. I bought a Victor tin cat and so far it is doing good. I can see a difference in the door. My voice has changed and going to have DR check it. First step to a referral.

Day 20 of this long lived plague . Looks like it's running about 25 days in ppl. So annoying.

New bucket mouse trap lid came this morning. Will install tonight.
