What did you do in the garden today?

This is what I woke up to this morning.

About 4 inches of heavy wet stuff. There’s your nitrogen. Lol! Happy winter.
We got about 4 inches too, but still snowing. They called for a dusting. 🙄 We lost power for a little bit too, but it's back on now. It's very heavy & wet. I'm guessing the chickens are never coming back out.

My solution there was a rusty nail in the bucket. No plants ever showed signs of iron deficiency. A penny, a dime, a rusted nail, a tiny bit of wood ash, a hint of epsom salt because I haven't figured out non-chemical sulfur yet, and something for nitrogen.
I use elemental sulfur powder in the dust bath for mites and lice. It's a volcanic mineral

You could make a weed tea for the nitrogen. Deep rooted weeds are best, since they pull a lot of nutrients out of the deep soil that are depleted near the surface. Dandelions are good to use, but anything green will work for the nitrogen. Even grass clippings.

Just put green weeds in a bucket, cover with water, and let them rot/ferment for at least a week or two. The longer the better.
