Don't trim off the tops before drying/curing the onions. When the tops have dried and turned brown cut them off where they're papery dry and not still moist. I dried mine on the covered deck, on top of a rabbit cage so they'd get air circulation above and below.

It did rain all day yesterday and I woosed out and didnt plant peas.
It is 48 out, I know it doesnt take long to get it done, so after while when its light and a bit warmer, Peas it is

I appreciate your advice. I built a table with a wired surface to lay the onions on to dry, last year I used a fan while having them spread out on this table. Each season they’ve been dried in my garage out of the sun and left to cure for weeks until dried. Each and every time they, with a rare exception, either outright rot or have layers rotting. I do my best to make sure they are not taking on moisture close to harvest.

Got it done
Last Nov. I weeded for 6 hours and get the bed reclaimed
(after 5mo of taking care of my DH)

Thank you, I ODC'd over getting the rows even,

but, I have plenty of room ( two shoes wide) to walk between rows and get some corn rows.

G’morning everyone. I watered the grass, which is finally starting to green up, then started soaking everything in the xeriscape area. The chaste trees are putting on leaves like crazy now, there’s new limbs on a couple of the dragon fruit, and the rosemary and sage are putting on leaves like crazy too. We are headed into the mid 90’s for the rest of the week so trying to get as much done today as possible so I can finish up a little at a time throughout the week. We still need to rebuild the platform for the sun ovens and I have a few canning projects to finish this week.

Afternoon thunderstorm with hail yesterday. Did not last long. Then wind advisory. Sunny and breezy today. One clump of Daffodils blooming. More to come. Assorted varieties so bloom times are staggered.

Been busy, but finally got my pallets for the raised beds

Yeah, that looks like the backend of my old 1998 Ford Explorer coming back from a trip to town. I almost always check out my favorite places that have free pallets to pick up. I really like that cargo strap idea to hold down the pallets. I'll have to check my Explorer to see if it has some place to attach a strap. That looks much safer than me just stacking everything up in the back.

The best thing about making your own pallet wood raised beds is that you can make them any height you want.

I met an older couple last year that was making pallet wood raised beds out of complete pallets at 42 inches tall by just screwing 4 pallets together. The wife recently had hip surgery and was unable to bend over at all. Using the full pallet height was their solution to continue to enjoy gardening given her challenges.

I make my 4X4 foot pallet wood raised beds 16 inches high, which works best for me. Here is a picture of my pallet wood raised bed v2.0 which I really like...

I call it my v2.0 because there are a number of improvements that I learned how to build into my original pallet wood raised beds to make them stronger and last longer.
