What did you do in the garden today?

watered and picked up lettuce and kale to feed piggies. I need room for summer garden.

My clematis is flowering planted the last of the dahlia bulbs in pots still got 2 raised beds to build, but got held up cos I need to get the run for the 20+ baby chickens ready, they will start hatching monday

I started cleaning out the garden/raised bed area. My tomato plants are ready to be planted

May not be able to do anything in the garden today. Hopefully later this afternoon. My clematis is blooming now too. And so is my orange azalea.

Usually my mom stakes out the garden and plants most the seeds. I was getting antsy so did it myself. I’m thinking the google recommendation of 3ft between rows isn’t quite enough… oh well! Maybe if the garden is so full of plants I won’t have to weed between the rows as much right?

I may have let the last frost of the year take out half my tomatoes that I was trying to harden off… also got the cayenne pepper and egg plant seedlings Luckily only have the tomatoes died and I had a few of each variety to plant. A dozen plants will give plenty to play with.

There’s 3.5 rows left with one going to purple bush beans. I’ll be going to the feed mill and likely pick up something fun to try.

I did nothing in the garden today - went to see how my 93yr old mum was doing. As long as I do that weekly she can keep living independently on her 1/4 acre. Then shopped, came home and caught up with all the neglected indoor chores.

You’d be heading into your harvest season, right?

The rains hit my peonies hard so all those big beautiful blooms are all bent down. I have 13 peony bushes so that's a lot of flowers to cut off and make into bouquets. My house is going to smell like a funeral home when I'm done, lol

I've got 2 bags of attapulgite and hope it will help with drought.

They quit using it here because it had lead. Maybe yours doesn't

In the cart now, thank you. Never had ants on anything but my peonies before and didn't worry about it. On my food? That's a different matter and I don't like to use any chemicals.

I wrapped clear grafting tape and put a thin layer of insect glue around the stem of a devil plant that I grafted a Black Beauty eggplant on. Prior to doing this the ants were carrying aphids up onto the leaves.

Two days left on my hatch, and I see 2 eggs pipping. A few days ago, before locking down, I found two eggs leaking without any cracks and took them out. I was curious and tried to scratch off the dried substance and the egg exploded in my face. It was a horrible experience. I was thinking these eggs were not going to hatch, but I may still have a chance...............They were all blacked out when I last checked them. I have 5 left out of 11.
