What did you do in the garden today?

Planting, planting, planting! It's time, everything can go in. I can stop tending seedlings in pots. Love this time of year but it is work! I'm 23 pages behind in reading this thread but 90% of seedlings are planted and I've started on putting seeds in the ground for squashes, cucumbers and such. This year I'm adding a much more organized medicinal garden too. I'm excited about it and excited to learn. Hopefully I can keep it organized. Last year I did it rather haphazardly and lost plant markers or the sharpie faded too much to read. This year I'm using paint markers for the labels.
The best plant markers I've ever used were free. I replaced my metal mini-blinds and used the slats as plant markers. I cut a 36" slat into two pieces, then cut each half in two with a slanted cut ... instant "digger" ends! That left me with about a gazillion 8-10 inch markers. A permanent marker stays put through the season's weather, but is easily removable with a rub rag and maybe a bit of alcohol. I've used the same ones over and over again for years!

Please post pictures! I have never gotten a good harvest from my blueberries. Birds get most of them, and the cheap plastic netting doesn't do a great job.
:( So many severe storms, so much damage everywhere. It's just terrible. Watching more storms moving nearby, on YouTube seems like the common thing around here anymore. 😦
yeah, had enough of this wind and rain myself.

So today canned 7 6oz jars of strawberry jam early this morning from berries picked yesterday ( we are being well blessed with strawberries this year), weeded the largest garden patch and, oh yeah relocated a opossum we live trapped lat night. Of all the things (rabbits) I’ve been trying to tempt into the traps this ol’ boys walks in. I think I caught him two years ago when he was a young buck and just cut him loose back into the yard, We weren’t concerned about him, or the skunks for that matter running around. Felt sort of bad for him because he beat himself up pretty bad, to the point of scraping himself up and bleeding, and he was just tuckered out so much that I had to help him out of the trap in order to let him go a couple of miles away in a remote forest location.

I’ll send one soon. We originally had medium duty 5’ T-posts set around the perimeter of our blueberries. We then set 3/4” PVC T’s on the end of those and used salvaged branches to slide through the T’s and across the blueberries so we could drape that cheap bird netting over the entire bed. It worked pretty well but was a bit of a pain to access the bushes because of netting snagging the branches, etc. And once done for the season trying to reuse the netting was akin th trying to fold a fitted sheet.:he
