What did you do in the garden today?

My mom had cirrhosis from her meds. Insane! She never touched alcohol and they kept blaming her for drinking. They knew damn well it was her meds. Half her syrup meds were alcohol based, great to prescribe for a diabetic BTW. I swear, so many MDs are simply practicing and don't have a clue or read a chart.

I have started some cilantro and pepper plants from seed. I am so excited to start the garden!

Whatever Harbor Freight carries. I put about 200$ into it just to make it stable and functional. It's the panels that don't last. Plastic just does NOT like hail or UV, and their clips that hold them in are useless beyond about 25 mph.

my mother came to visit me. she will stay about 3 months. she is 81 but she is such a great help. it is cold and rainy but next week we shall have summer temperatures again. as soon as rain stops I will till my big garden and direct seed everything. tomatoes and peppers are still in pots.

For as good as my garden starts are this year, the garden is coming together VERY slowly. I feel like I'm so far behind!

The cold week before Memorial Day didn't help.

Same. I still need to up-pot my herbs and cut up another cattle panel. Lots of rain this spring on top of the cold!

Love this time of year, watching the garden grow. My sunflowers are almost as tall as I am, dozens of little tiny jalapenos on the plants, chard and beets are doing well......its a time of such promise and hope!
Next month mother nature will torment me with intense heat and every bug she has in her arsenal, lol, so I better enjoy this feeling while I can!

More on my statin experience. They kept me on statins. It lowered my immune system allowing me to get toxoplasmosis parasite. Carried by cats. I had no cat but a relative did. My first clue was while driving the power lines were wavy. Eye doctors were stumped. One finally tested for toxoplasmosis. Took zpack azithromycin for a year. Can't kill it but makes it go dormant. Optic nerve inflamed. Scar tissue provided traction to detach my retina. Ruined my vision in the right eye. Still wanted me on statins. I said no way. Done too much damage. They now list me as allergic to statins. Never test my cholesterol now.

Maybe your sharing this story will help others question whether they really need to be on that drug. I've been told the little tiny improvement that drug gives is far outweighed by the problems it causes. I'm so sorry you went through that.

Went out to check the squash mound (pumpkin, cushaw, zucchini, and watermelon) this morning and saw a SVB on one of my plants... Tried killing that sucker but I'm not sure if I got it. Started examining all the plants and found LOTS of eggs. Going to spray some BT today... There's too many plants to cover or wrap the stems so BT is my best option, I think. Not sure how often I'll have to spray it... Thought it had to be on contact?
