Sounds like you need to dry some milk!

I keep powdered milk in the pantry. I bought mine though. That trigger finger is really getting itchy... Maybe they will have an independence day sale... Your freeze drying content is very encouraging.

When is it the right time to harvest the dill flower heads for pickles? I'm going to have to freeze them to use later because my pickling cukes haven't even started vining yet. And does dill keep producing more flower heads after the first ones are cut off? This year is the first time that I've gotten dill plants to grow successfully so I'm clueless.

I used dry dill from my local supermarket spice rack and made a plain vinegar, water, salt, sugar and dry dill brine to see how it tastes, and I liked it.

Got my first melon cucumber, it could have been picked yesterday, but i didn’t see it.

Cheating a little... Those are last year's tomatoes (oven-dried & frozen) and winter squash. We let it sit for 10 months to see if the cultivar really is that good in storage... yes it is but it's been so long nobody remembers anymore which one it was I'm thinking Butterkin.

No new beetle damage after spraying bt, too early to tell though. I was frantically watering my front beds since I don't have drip here (yet). Some of my plants were looking a bit sad. In their defense, I have not mulched so they are really roughing it.

Thunderstorm yesterday evening gave about 1/2 inch of rain. Everything wet and humid. Temp dropped from 92 to 74 degrees with the storm.

We just got some rain. I think the shower has passed, and I don't know if any more is on the way. That's the first rain in two weeks. Not nearly enough, but beggars can't be choosers.

75f now and not currently raining. Got 6 tenths of an inch yesterday. More on the way. Good thing my cousin got 3/4 of the hay done. They have one field left to cut.
