What did you do in the garden today?

My younger brother said he removed all the suckers… didn’t look like it, there were SO many and they were so big, and my dog just loves sitting in them. I will have to take him with me next time and show him how to do it, if he’s going to claim to do it.View attachment 4162014
Wow, beautiful dog! You all doing alright over there? Ceasefire holding? You've kinda moved out of our news cycle here, so praying all's well.

Came home and found all the chickens out and about, including our new mother. Found the new chicks out of the nest box and running around the coop, mother was there a bit frantic. Put the chicks back in the nest box and built a short ramp to it, also gave the chicks a test run on it and it worked. Went to give everyone treats(sunflower seeds and semi-frozen blueberries) and found out that the new chicks are hoovers just like the others. Mom would take them and drop them for the chicks who made valiant attempts to run off and away with them. Not sure if the berries are a good fit for the chicks so I took them away.
I did ‘look’ at the garden today……but, that’s about it.

My husband made this for me, helped me paint it and I put up the signs. I have only had one customer so far, we are out in the country but close by a lake that gets a lot of travel in the summer. I really hope I get more interest though, I'd put out more things.

Anyone ever have issues with skunks or opossums? We have trapped and released back on the property a couple each over time. Never noticed any issues with them being around except for the scat. Groundhogs a completely different matter.
Both are nest robbers and will kill a chicken. I accidentally left the coop open... he went by the feed, eggs and killed a good hen. Big male opossum eating through the vent. Carcass was bite all over. Pew Pew

I was throwing weeds over the fence one day and some got caught on it and I accidentally touched it getting them off and I hopped around cussing like a sailor for a few minutes.
How much would that be?
One time when I was a young boy my less than vigilant parents took me along to a friend of theirs house. Next to it was a field with cows AND(unknown to me) an electric fence. Not having seen a cow at this point in my life I ran down to see it up close AND grabbed (with both hands mind you) the fence. Well, imagine my surprise. Not sure how long I cried but it wasn’t long enough.
These are the same people, one of them anyway, that once dug up a huge batch of horseradish, ground it up and(knowing I had no clue at that age) tricked me into taking a big whiff, I mean a nose deep whiff. Well, imagine THAT surprise. I cried a lot then also, although I don’t think it was nearly enough either.

Guess I should have mentioned this was before chickens. The opossum has been recaptured not too long ago and was relocated. Skunkshaven’t been seen in quite sometime, besides chickens are in and locked up before nightfall.

That's cruel. :barnie

I was told to stay away from the electric fence that had a "weed burner" feature. I was pulling grass to give to the horses.... for some reason there was lush grass around the fence that I just had to pull. I learned to listen to what I was told.

Yeah I intended to lock up the chickens too.
Once these are caught they learn not to go in
