What did you do in the garden today?

Happy Independence Day, fellow Americans!

Have not gardened in years, as some fairly assertive domestic fowl have displaced the garden area entirely. However, they pay taxes in manure and rent in delicioùs edible orbs so we let them stay. But I have ordered a rectangular galvanized bottomless garden container, 6' long x 3' wide by 1.5' tall (I would have preferred 2' tall but cannot find one). When it arrives and I get it put together I plan to start filling it up with alternating layers of said manure and wood chips, generously provided by our local electric company. I expect it to take a fair time to fill up, but when it does and it cooks down into compost, I plan to use it as a planter. At that point I will purchas PVC-and- net cover for i to keep said domestic fowl out of it! Will record progress.

Kinda like me with the goji and huckleberries... Instead of wasting money trying to get seeds to grow, I may bite the bullet and buy established plants. Need to figure out if I'm going to end up moving first.
Where do you get huckleberries? Are they really, truly, honest-to-goodness Montana huckleberries? Are you in the market for a left arm, because I will gladly send mine for Montana huckleberry bushes. I've been wanting some since about 1974.

We just sit out on our driveway and watch the fireworks display put on by our fire department(they also have a month long carnival during June/July) which is only about a mile or two from us as the crow flies. I particularly enjoy watching all the people driving home as they leave after the display. I don’t know, just something about only needing walk about 20’ to relax and watch fireworks as opposed to needing to drive to see them. Is this an evil thought?
Watching the people trying to be the first out is as entertaining as the fireworks! :lau It's not evil, it's Angelic, you aren't in their way.:lau

About 6 years ago we invited some family, friends and neighbors over and I made supper with some fun desserts. We had games for the kids until it got dark.
We had shot off fireworks for years before this, we just didn't have people over for them or do this many at once.
So everyone is excited and everything is going good until it wasn't. A big box firework started blowing out the sides and was launching them towards everyone. We had to hit it away.
No one was hurt, but I felt like I was going to throw up, I was so upset. Everyone wanted to continue but their were other malfunctions.
The next day we had to spend all day fixing fence where our cows tore through them, so that was extra super fun.
So no more of that shit for me thanks anyway 😒.

My huckleberries are garden huckleberries, related to tomato plants and grown the same way as tomatoes. They taste nothing like true huckleberries which are delectable. These take a bit of work making them edible, but I'm working on it.
I'm told true Montana huckleberries don't transplant well that's why you can't find them on the market. Again , what I was told, no direct experience with that.

Ahhhh, the little things in life that make it all worthwhile. When younger we did something similar with bottle rockets……of course…..we did it intentionally.:D

You’ll never be in danger of forgetting THAT Fourth of July. Am I right or am I right?
