What did you do in the garden today?

Planted more green beans and some rutabagas in the potato bed since they are dug up. Walked through the garden and saw new seedlings had sprouted, realized I planted some zucchini, or butterbush or yellow squash or acorn .. hahah. I told myself that big lie that gardeners do! I'll remember what I planted there .. 😜 I will find out in a couple months I suppose!

I ripped out all the dead bolted spinach. I have probably around a thousand seeds and need at most 100 a year so I have plenty. I replaced it was some carrots. i laid some wet cardboard over it as im going away for a few days and dont want them drying out with how hot and sunny it has been. I may have also pruned some of the climbing hydrangeas im not allowed to prune. I got a 15 minute lecture from my mom the last time I did. Of course it was after she was talking about how good they looked and I mentioned I pruned them a few weeks before

This heat dome is expected to stick around at least until August. Ugh... Two more weeks (at least) of triple digits every single day. 🥵

I had to move my lemon tree... The heat and sun was simply too intense. Leaves were sunburned and it lost all its baby fruit (marble sized). I moved it under the big dogwood tree. It gets an hour of sun in the morning, shaded all afternoon, and then a few hours of sun late afternoon to dusk. It seems to be much happier like that...

Need to harvest more tomatoes tomorrow morning. Not sure what I'm going to do with them... Maybe have DH make some salsa...

I took a few photos this morning when I picked pole beans. We had them with dinner tonight. My shoulder is still very angry. I could hardly turn out of the driveway today without snagging the tendon and grumbling to myself. So another day of taking it easy.

I'm excited about more popcorn and butternut squash. It could only be better if it was kubocha squash. I love kubocha squash. Next year I'll plant a ton more.

The sunflower is just incredible. The stalk is as thick as my wrist. A personal record for me.

I checked to see if we were in it when I already knew the answer. The ring of fire is really the devil’s butthole isn’t it? 😂

I think I need to plant 6 okra plants next year instead of 3. Just one okra at a time isn’t cutting it.
My yard long beans didn’t die!! Was surprised by these this morning.
Sprayed my tomatoes w more Neem oil. Praying the worms I killed yesterday weren’t army worms. 😬
I think the next batch of pickles will be dill but this time I will do the lime bath to keep their crispness.
