What do you do with the dead canes?

I'd heard that they can harbor pests over the winter, so I burned them in the burn barrel.

You can tie lengths into bundles and make nesting places for mason and carpenter bees.

My pink lemonade blueberry is dying. Not sure why exactly but I suspect it's the intense heat. It's planted in a large mineral tub. Maybe it's getting root rot or perhaps the sun is causing the roots to heat up too much. Not sure... It's about 3 yrs old and never had a problem with the hot temps before... Nearly all the leaves have turned crispy brown. I can take a picture tomorrow and post it... I KNEW I should have transplanted it into the ground this spring.

I believe scarlet runner beans are perennial in warmer climates. The root can be dug up, stored correctly and planted the next spring in colder climates. That is, if my memory is correct.

I put them in the rubbish bin In case we have borer eggs in there.

I watered my half-dead heirloom tomatoes (because I can't accept the truth). The cherry tomatoes are finally coming along though. Maybe I'll get a few before frost. My husband picked blueberries. Love my bushes, but I need a better cover system.
