What did you do in the garden today?

It's too hot here to even consider the garden. BUT- I went to move the chickens to a run we use when it's extremely hot and one of my pullets left me a tiny little blue egg in the nest box! Yesterday, there was a little green one in there. They are just shy of 17 weeks.

Winds out of iowa just howled through. Chunks of Gretna lost power. You ok?

I've read on here hanging a piece of cardboard after the spot the last then sits works well..the new ones can go on the other side and out of peck zone..

Interesting, might need to give that a try.

It said feels like 122'F at 9:30am this morning so what do we do? Almost everything apparently.
Among the most time consuming was with our sweet corn. We didn't get as much as last year but after picking, shucking, blanching, cutting and packaging we got 25 bags of 2 1/2 cups each.
I need my thumb to heal up so I can get some things done...

Saw lighting flashes. Rain in the area again. Not sure when I will get a chance to mow again. Pulled weeds and got soaking wet with sweat. Had to change clothes. FYI ticks were weaponized in WW2. Reasearch continued on plum island NY. First cases of Lyme disease onshore near Plum Island. They discovered Lyme disease and weaponized it.

They found Lyme disease in the ancient frozen glacial Ice man. So it's been around a while, just not identified and named until Connecticut.

We did lose power, but it came back on! Thank goodness. Can you imagine no power on this HOT day?

Picked worms off tomatoes and made the young chickens happy. I need to do some weeding but that will have to wait till tomorrow.
