I started mowing the backyard and noticed a snapdragon blooming randomly. I planted snapdragon plants in the Spring in a container so I’m guessing somehow a bird ate a seed and planted it. Weird.

I'm going to stake my wind-whipped sunflower, then mow the front yard before the really big wind gets here.

Why doesn't my pumpkin plant have any female flowers?​

To begin with, when the weather is unusually hot and humid at the beginning of a season, some plants respond by delaying the production of female flowers. This can have an especially significant impact on pumpkins, as late sets may not have enough time to develop before colder temperatures and shorter days set in. As such, if pumpkin plants are unable to produce their female blossoms during that crucial early period due to high heat and humidity levels, they will struggle to achieve successful growth later on. For this reason, it is important for growers who are cultivating pumpkins (or other plants which require female flowers) to be mindful of environmental conditions in order to ensure a successful harvest come autumn.

thank you. no humidity here but plenty of hell heat. so I must start pumpkins indoors.

My pumpkin, "Long Island cheese" dropped all flowers and blooms until our heat and rain were done .we did get a crazy amount of rain. It is now setting pumpkins like crazy, but I'm worried it's too late

Snapdragons are so awesome. They overwinter here even though they shouldn't

Picked tomatoes, cucumbers, jalapenos, tomatillos, all the things! Love end of summer! Stay away fall! I'm still living my best summer life! Haha

I planted that second planting of pumpkins and I am only now getting female flowers, on one plant. Most the rest look terrible. Daisy gourd is looking amazing though. I need to get out there and take photos.

I picked tomatillos and strawberries today. Watered a little bit.

That brass impact sprinkler is amazing. It's saving me so much time.
