What did you do in the garden today?

That is the cleanest peach tree I've ever seen. It's beautiful!!
That's the #1 reason it's still here. 😄 BTW, those pictures of the tree in flower were taken this last April. I'm glad I have it to compare to the pics I took today with the fruit. That's supposed to be a miniature tree that only gets 4-6 ft (less than 2m) tall. I would've expected it to grow a little slower. 😲😳

bonfire peaches look like peaches my grandparents had. they were not tasty to eat fresh but people used to make jam and syrup of them.
That's what put me to mind of the purée for bellinis. Not as sweet as syrup but a little bit of sugar to preserve it and a splash of lemon to keep the color. I should be able to freeze it in an ice tray and transfer to storage bags.

I roasted my first kubocha squash of the season. The seal is broken, vegetable roasting season is here early in this house. I love... I mean, LOVE, roasted vegetables and an excuse to eat nearly every winter squash available to ingest. Yummmm!!!

I'll be sad when we have our upcoming heat wave 😂
I've never heard of that variety so had to look it up. I've certainly eaten them and on l now I know what they're called. So thank you for that. (which doesn't mean I won't forget their name next time I see one 😂)

Roasted vegetables is just like....mmmmmm.... Oh so good. I also just love vegetables so I'm just good with whatever as long as the carrots are raw and I cannot get past the smell of pickled beets.

Now that I'm staring at my own text quoted, I think it's spelled "kabocha". Regardless, it is delicious when it's grown well and stored well. I find that a lot of store bought ones have a less than desirable texture. Kinda dry and chalky. This is why I grow my own.

Yesterday I watered, and hung out with the chickens. My speckled Sussex comes and talks to me and let's me pet her. Yay!

Some have been molting for the last month, but hiker barely molted last year and still hasn't started this year, her feathers look pretty terrible.

Ozzy gets jealous when I pet the little chickens.

Tinkerbell is molting pretty hard. It's hard to tell because of her feather type but she's got some big bald spots and looks about half her normal fluffiness.

Gertrude. Still the only little chicken that's laying.
