What did you do in the garden today?

I picked a few more pounds of tomatoes this morning. Altogether I think I have 7 or 8 pounds either ripening or ripe. Those will be for my first batch of salsa.

I moved things around on my pantry shelves and was able to clear off an entire shelf for more canned goods since the space I was using is already full of jars. There's enough height that I'll be able to add a shelf halfway up to get double the storage.

Watered over where I planted the daikon, bok choi and watercress seeds. None are sprouting yet but it's been only a couple days.

I watched three of the new pullets lay eggs this morning and marked them. I'll hatch eggs from the pullets that lay the best quality eggs.

Small weed wacker has been running on half choke. I ordered a new carb online. Carb, spark plug, air filter, fuel filter and fuel line for 9 bucks with free shipping. I have done this on small engines before. An easy swap. No need to rebuild a carb at these prices. You get the same carb brand from a dealer for more money as all these engines have a Zama or Walbro carb.
Sea Foam. Just to be sure everything's cleaned out as well.

All of my eggplants this year have ended up looking like this. I’m not sure why View attachment 4213280

Also I’m not sure what happened but i just had the hottest jalapeño I have ever ate. I can eat cayennes without an issue but that thing was BAD
Cute!
Today's melon is so sweet and tasty. I'm glad I gave it that extra day in the sun to finish ripening.View attachment 4213320
I lived on rockmelon and banana after a hospital stay (soft foods only).
Blend the pulp from 1 banana + half a melon.
When smooth, pour back into chilled melon skin, spinkle with nutmeg and cinnimon. Lush! My kids called it rockmelon custard.

Thanks for the idea. I have enough melons coming ripe I'll definitely have to try this.

Nope. Have a fountain in the yard, stones for birds and bee to be able to enjoy also. Less than 10 feet from the orchard. Nope, they love that fruit. Got all my cherries this year, didn't even save me one. Ungrateful wretches! Lol

I like cantaloupe either seasoned with salt and pepper, or half of one filled with vanilla ice cream. Salt on watermelon is good too.
